Lokomotiv Moscow will be looking to escape back-to-back defeats from Juventus in the Champions League. The Russian outfit have three points after the first three matches and this game is extremely important for their ambitions. Lokomotiv started the European campaign with a 2:1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Yuri Semin's men were excellent on that match and deserved the victory. Grzegorz Krychowiak and Dmitri Barinov were the scorers on that match. But in the next two matches Lokomotiv suffered two defeats. They lost 2:0 at home to Atletico Madrid and lost 2:1 in the reverse fixture with Juventus in Turin. The actual domestic form is bad. They lost 3:0 to Spartak Moscow and played just an 1:1 draw with Ufa on Saturday. The atmosphere in the squad isn't at desired level, while the players confidence is low. To be worse, coach Semin has lot of injury issues. Jefferson Farfan and Boris Rotenberg are long-term injury victims, while Fedor Smolov, Luka Djordjevic and Anton Miranchuk remain sidelined. Maciej Rebus has recovered from a groin injury and featured against Ufa at the weekend. However, I don't think he is ready to play his second match in just four days.
Juventus have seven points after the first three rounds. In the opening match Juve dropped a two-goal lead only to draw 2:2 with Atletico Madrid. A point from Wanda Metropolitano is definitely a good result. Nevertheless, dropping two-goal advantage with 20 minutes to go, was very disappointing. Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi scored the goals. The Old Lady won the next two matches. First they beat Bayer Leverkusen with 3:0. Gonzalo Higuain scored one goal and assisted on another, while Federico Bernardeschi and Cristiano Ronaldo netted the remaining two. Paulo Dybala was the hero in the third round. He rescued his team with two late goals as Juve came from behind to defeat Lokomotiv Moscow 2:1. The fans are hungry for European trophy and players are well aware of this fact, as so the coach Maurizio Sarri. The Serie A Giants have not lifted the trophy since 1996, but the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo raised the expectations. Last season Juventus were surprisingly knocked out by Ajax in the quarter-finals, a failure that costed Alegri his job. Sarri is still without injured Giorgio Chiellini and Mattia Perin, while Mario Mandzukic and Emre Can are not included in the Champions League squad. On the positive note, the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Danilo, Mattia De Sciglio and Douglas Costa are all fit following recent injury issues.
Lokomotiv Moscow vs Juventus Prediction:
I expect both teams to score in Moscow. This is the crucial match for Lokomotiv. The hosts must score to keep their promotion hopes alive.
Yuri Semin's men were able to score in Italy, so why not at home. Juventus, meanwhile, have a player able to make the difference - Cristiano Ronaldo. But not only him, there are Dybala and Higuain, too. I can't imagine the guests to leave the match goalless.
