Real Madrid vs Atalanta Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Real Madrid:
Courtois; Vazquez, Varane, Ramos, Mendy; Kroos, Valverde, Modric; Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius

Atalanta:
Gollini; Toloi, Romero, Djimsiti; Maehle, De Roon, Pasalic, Gosens; Pessina; Muriel, Zapata

Real Madrid and Atalanta will play the second-leg match of their last-16 tie on Tuesday night. The Spanish club have won 1:0 in the first leg played on February 24 in Bergamo, with Ferland Mendy netting the goal in the 86th minute. It was his first goal in European top competition. Coach Zinedine Zidane was without a number of key players through injury including captain Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Dani Carvajal, but showed their class and recorded an important victory. But the key moment of the match happened in the 17th minute - Atalanta defender Remo Freuler was sent off for denying Mendy a 'clear' goal opportunity. Many pundits agreed the yellow card could be more appropriate in that situation, while coach Gian Piero Gasperini was disappointed with the referee's decision. As a result, this was the first time Atalanta have failed to register a single shot on target in a Champions League game.

Real Madrid are in solid form at the moment. The Spanish champions go into this match with high confidence after winning five of the last seven matches in all competition. The remaining two matches ended with draw, including an 1:1 draw with leaders Atletico Madrid at Wanda. Real also beat Elche with 2:1 on Saturday. Karim Benzema was "Man of the Match" after scored a stunning stoppage-time winner. The first goal was also scored by Benzema in the 73rd minute. Los Blancos are now second on the table, six points behind leaders Atletico, but could be back in third behind Barcelona by the time that they take to the field for this game. Zidane has some injury and suspension worries ahead of this match. He will again be without the injured Dani Carvajal, while Alvaro Odriozola, Marcelo and Mariano Diaz are unlikely to be available. Casemiro, meanwhile, is suspended due to accumulated yellow cards. Most probably he will be replaced by Federico Valverde. Sergio Ramos and Eden Hazard made their return from injury against Elche. The first should start again, while the Belgian winger is expected to be among the substitutes.

Atalanta played in the quarter-finals last season in the Champions League. They were pleasant surprise in their first ever appearance in the competition, ultimately losing 2:1 to eventual finalists Paris Saint-Germain. This season they were good again. Playing away from home seems not a problem for Gasparini's men. They already beat Midtjylland in Denmark, Ajax in Amsterdam and Liverpool at Anfield. It is clear they won't give up easily here. The current form is not bad. They played four matches since the defeat from Real and won three of them. The club from Bergamo beat Sampdoria, Crotone and Spezia, but lost the derby with Serie A leaders Inter. For this match Gasperini will be missing Hans Hateboer due to injury. The Dutchman has been out of action since January due to a fracture. And of course, Freuler is suspended due to the red card that he picked up in the first match. Most probably he will be replaced by Mario Pasalic, who scored twice against Spezia. The club leading scorer Luis Muriel should lead the line. Some players that didn't start against Spezia on Friday, should be back in the team, like Duvan Zapata and Cristian Romero.

Real Madrid vs Atalanta Prediction:

Real Madrid are not considered to be one of the favorites for the competition this season. However, their experience should not be underestimated. Atalanta will be visiting Madrid for the first time, but they were successful against Spanish opposition last year, beating Valencia in the Round of 8. As I already wrote, Atalanta managed to beat Midtjylland, Ajax and Liverpool as guests. Real didn't look too good against Elche during the weekend. I think Atalanta could remain unbeaten in Madrid.

Manchester City

Even if their long winning streak is ended by Manchester United, they get a two-match winning streak again, which shows their great competitiveness. And they are in good condition now.

Borussia Monchengladbach

They are the top team, but they suffer from injuries recently, getting a six-match losing streak in various Leagues and Tournaments. It seems that they are unlikely to win in the upcoming game.

Verdict:

Manchester City are more experienced than Borussia Monchengladbach in European games. And Manchester City have home advantage. They are more confidence and stress-less as they win over Borussia Monchengladbach at 2-0 in last round. So it is predicted that Manchester City will win in the upcoming game.

Manchester City VS Borussia Monchengladbach

Prediction: 3-0, 3-1

Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Chelsea:
Mendy; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; Hudson-Odoi, Kante, Kovacic, Alonso; Ziyech, Werner; Giroud

Atletico Madrid:
Oblak; Trippier, Gimenez, Savic, Lodi; Koke; Felix, Llorente, Saul, Correa; Luis Suarez

Chelsea look closer to book a ticket in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals as they take on Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge with one-goal advantage from the first-leg match. As You probably know, Chelsea won 1:0 as guests thanks to Olivier Giroud's spectacular overhead kick. The match was played in Bucharest, Romania instead of Madrid because of Covid-19 restrictions. The goal was originally ruled out for offside before a video assistant referee review revealed the ball had bounced off Atletico defender Mario Hermoso. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel praised the impact of 34-year-old World Cup winner Giroud and said he works like a 20-year-old. It was his sixth goal in the competition this season. Atletico Madrid were poor and failed to register a single shot on target - the first time in a Champions League match since March 2019 versus Juventus. Diego Simeone was tactically outplayed by Tuchel, who become only the second coach in the Champions League history that lead two different clubs in the competition within a single season, after Ronald Koeman in the season 2007/08 (PSV and Valencia).

Chelsea look much better since Thomas Tuchel replaced the club legend Frank Lampard. The Blues are completely new team now. They won 9 and drawn three of the 12 matches in all competitions under his guidance. In the Premier League they shared the points with Wolverhampton, Southampton, Manchester United and Leeds United, while managed to beat Burnley, Tottenham, Sheffield United, Newcastle, Liverpool and Everton. They also secured the FA Cup quarter-finals after beat Barnsley. And of course, the mentioned victory against Atletico. I believe the players confidence is very high at the moment. However, the German coach has lot of injury and suspension worries ahead of this match. Mason Mount and Jorginho have both picked up bookings in the first leg and now are banned. Two more players are rated as doubtful - Tammy Abraham and Thiago Silva. Most probably Tuchel will continue with his three-man defense of Christensen, Rudiger and Azpilicueta. There is no reason for changes after the Blues kept clean sheet on the last five matches. Giroud will certainly hope to start after the £71m forward Kai Havertz failed to impress against Leeds on Saturday.

Just one month ago everything looked fine for Atletico Madrid, but the last results are not at desired level. The Rojiblancos have just three wins on the last eight La Liga matches and their big advantage has gone. Currently the second-placed Barcelona, who beat Huesca with 4:1 on Monday, are "only" four points behind. Nevertheless, everybody is praising Simeone's work. During his nine years at the club, the longest of any Atleti coach, Chelsea have appointed eight different managers. And while the Blues owner Roman Abramovich spent millions for acquisitions, Simeone had to deal with the departures of Antoine Griezmann, Lucas Hernandez, Rodri, Filipe Luis, Diego Godin and Juanfran in the summer of 2019, followed by the sales of Thomas Partey and Alvaro Morata last summer. And yet they are first in Primera Division with four points advantage. The question is - are they able to beat Chelsea in this match and to eliminate them? Well, Simeone surely knows how to inspire a big performance from his players. They can never be written off, as Liverpool - dominant at the time - painfully discovered when they were eliminated at this stage last season. The Spanish side won 3:2 at Anfield after coming from 2:0 down. The guests have no important missing players for this match.

Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid Prediction:

I expect a match with goals from both sides. Chelsea have an advantage from the first leg, but they play at home and I don't expect "catenaccio" from Tuchel. He is German, not Italian (ha, ha). Atletico, on other side, have no other option than attack. They must win to stay alive. I think there will be goals
