This is a genuine derby, a clash between fourth-placed Arsenal and second-placed Liverpool a the Emirats Stadium in London. The Gunners are in series of four victories in the Premier League. They managed to beat Brentford, Wolverhampton, Watford and Leicester City. The first three victories were narrow due to the fact Ramsdale conceded on each of them, while the clean sheet against the Foxes was a positive change for Arteta. As I wrote above, Arsenal currently occupy the fourth position, one point clear of fifth-placed Manchester United. What is important to be mentioned, the Red Devils had played 29 matches, while Arsenal 26. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent at the moment, particularly after the dominant display against Leicester on Sunday. Thomas Partey headed in unchallenged from Gabriel Martinelli's corner after 11 minutes. The same player struck the crossbar as Arsenal pressed for a second, while Lacazette made it 2:0 with a 59th-minute penalty. Arteta has the majority of his players available for this match. Emile Smith Rowe has recovered from illness and played some 15 minutes against Leicester. He is in contention to replace Gabriel Martinelli, but Arteta may want to be cautious over his fitness. Takehiro Tomiyasu remain out due to a calf injury.
Liverpool are also in series of victories in the Premier League. While the Gunners have registered four, the Reds are twice as successful with eight victories in a row. They beat Brentford, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Burnley, Norwich, Leeds, West Ham and Brighton. Liverpool are four points behind Manchester City after the leaders played a goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night. A victory here could see the Reds coming just one point from the first place. But the last results are not quite "perfect". Last Tuesday they lost 1:0 to Inter Milan in the Champions League, although secured progress. Liverpool also won the League Cup, but the match against Chelsea finished 0:0 after the regular time. So, counting only the regular 90 minutes, the Reds have won three of the last five matches across all competitions. On Saturday Liverpool beat Brighton 2:0 at Amex Stadium. Luis Diaz scored the first goal, despite suffering in a nasty collision with Brighton goalkeeper, while Mohamed Salah converted a penalty after Yves Bissouma's handball in the second half. The Egypt winger was replaced in the finish due to a foot problem and he is rated as doubtful. Diogo Jota could deputize for Salah if Klopp decide to rest the Egyptian. Kostas Tsimikas and James Milner are both doubtful due to illness, but Ibrahima Konate returns from a knock.
Arsenal vs Liverpool Prediction:
This will be the fourth mutual game between Arsenal and Liverpool this season. After winning 4:0 at Anfield in November, Liverpool won 2:0 at the Emirates in the EFL Cup semi-finals after a 0:0 draw on home soil in the first leg. As You could see, the Gunners failed to score in three consecutive meetings against the Reds. But right now the situation looks positive for Arteta's men. Arsenal are in series of four victories in the Premier League and the players confidence is very high. It's time for goals, I expect an efficient match.
