Everton vs Chelsea Preview:
Possible starting lineups:
Everton:
Pickford, Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne, Gomes, Gueye, Bernard, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin
Chelsea:
Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta. Rudiger, David Luiz, Emerson, Barkley, Jorginho, Kante, Pedro, Giroud, Hazard
Everton have 37 points and sit in the middle of the table. The Toffees had European ambitions before the season, so this could not be rated as successful campaign. The actual form is poor, Everton have four defeats on the last six matches the Premier League. The only victory came against Cardiff City, while the goalless draw against Liverpool in the Merseysider derby could be evaluate as a positive result. In terms of defeats, Everton lost to Wolverhampton, Manchester City, Watford and Newcastle United last weekend. The defeat at St James Park (3:2) was very painful as the Toffees had two-goal advantage after the first half thanks to the goals scored by Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin. That was Richarlison's 11th Premier League goal since the start of the season, while Calvert-Lewin has six goals to his name. Just to mention, Gylfi Sigurdsson has also scored 11 goals this season. Manager Marco Silva was angry after the match and has been charged by the Football Association with "improper conduct" after he argued with the referees on the pitch. Silva was unhappy his side did not get a penalty and said Newcastle's winning goal was 'a clear offside'. For this match Silva has some unavailable players. Leighton Baines is sidelined with a rib injury that has ruled him out for a month. Kurt Zouma can't play against the parent club Chelsea due to the terms in his loan agreement. Finally, Seamus Coleman and Phil Jagielka are rated as doubtful.
Chelsea are on the sixth place with 57 points. The Blues are three points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal, but have a match in hand. The actual form is solid, they have two victories and one draw on the last three matches in the Premier League. Manager Maurizio Sarri was unhappy with the fact his players dropped two points against Wolverhampton last weekend. However, Chelsea were close to suffer defeat as Eden Hazard equalized in the 92nd minute of the match. That was his 50th Premier League goal at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea, becoming the third player to do so for the club in the competition after Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. Willian should also be mentioned for his assist. It was Willian's fifth assist for Hazard in the Premier League. In the meantime Chelsea were outstanding in UEFA Europe League. The Blues destroyed Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev and progressed with a 8:0 aggregate victory. Olivier Giroud scored a hat-trick in Ukraine on Thursday and most probably earned a place in the starting eleven, particularly knowing Gonzalo Higuain missed the last match through illness. It would be just seventh league start of the season for Giroud. Most of the other players are ready, only Davide Zappacosta is rated as doubtful.
Everton vs Chelsea Prediction:
Everton are far from their best form. The Toffees have four defeats on the last six matches in the Premier League and the players confidence is low. On contrary, Chelsea have four victories and just one draw on the last five matches across all competitions. The Blues were impressive in Ukraine where they won 5:0 against Dynamo Kiev. I expect to leave Goodison Park with three points.
