Arsenal are fighting for the Champions League spot. The Gunners have 60 points and sit on the fourth place. But Manchester United and Chelsea are behind and that's why this match is very important. The current form is good, Arsenal have four wins and one draw on the last five matches in the Premier League. First they beat Huddersfield with 2:1, then Southampton with 2:0 and Bournemouth with 5:1. The only draw came in North London derby when they played an 1:1 draw with Tottenham at Wembley. In the last round Arsenal have obtained an important 2:0 win against arch-rivals Manchester United. Midfielder Granit Xhaka beat David de Gea with a swerving shot from outside the penalty area, which the Spanish keeper was expected to stop. Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno has produced two crucial saves to keep out Lukaku, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Fred's foul on Alexandre Lacazette. In the meantime Arsenal were good in UEFA Europe League. They have eliminated the French side Rennes and secured a quarter-finals with Napoli during April. Manager Unai Emery will try to continue the winning series, though he has some injury and suspension issues. Danny Welbeck, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding remain long-term injury victims, while Lucas Torreira will serve the second of his three-match ban for the red card against Tottenham. In addition, Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal are rated as doubtful.
Newcastle City are on the 13th position with 35 points. The Magpies are seven points away from the drop zone and they are still involved into the relegation battle. Manager Rafa Benitez has warned his players they need one more victory to secure Premier League safety. The actual form is good, Newcastle have three wins on the last five matches in the Premier League. They managed to beat Huddersfield and Burnley with 2:0, won 3:2 against Everton, while lost 2:0 to West Ham. In the last round the Magpies played a 2:2 draw with Bournemouth. Salomon Rondon and Matt Ritchie scored the goals at Vitality Stadium. Interesting, both goals were scored during the referee's time, one after first 45 minutes, the other after 90 minutes. Rondon is the best player this season, with nine Premier League goals and five league assists to his name. Benitez has some injury and suspension worries ahead of this match. Fabian Schar is sidelined through both reasons - he suffered a head injury playing for Switzerland, but he is also suspended for this match. Rob Elliot and Sean Longstaff are both out injured, while Jamaal Lascelles is rated as doubtful and will be assessed.
Arsenal vs Newcastle Prediction:
I expect both teams to score at the Emirats. Arsenal are fighting for a Champions League spot and they need three points from this match. I am sure Emery's men will attack from the very first minute. But Newcastle are also in good form. The Magpies managed to score on five of the last six matches in the Premier League. I believe they are able to continue with goals.
