ASTON VILLA V FULHAM PREDICTIONS

Villa have been on a great run recently to get themselves out the relegation zone but they can’t relax yet and need a big performance against a Fulham side who are comfortably midtable.

Aston Villa are 16th in the table with 33 points from 32 matches which has them 2 points clear of the relegation zone. They have won 3 of their last 4 matches, including two away from home, and are looking like they’ll avoid the drop. Things were looking ominous for them before this run with an inexperienced team but they have fought hard in every match and totally deserved their wins.

Fulham are 10th in the EPL with 39 points from 31 matches and could move up to 9th if they win their game in hand over Swansea. They had been on a strong run with 3 wins in 4 before an injury time defeat at Newcastle last weekend but they have done enough already this season and can coast to the finish.

Villa still have a very large injury list including Agbonlahor, Herd, Albrighton, Gardner, Dunne and Petrov. They will hope Ciaran Clark will be fit for the weekend but it shows how well the team have done to put a winning run together with this level of injuries.

Fulham will be missing Enoh and Diarra but expect Petriae and Dejagah to be fit.

ASTON VILLA – FULHAM BETTING TIPS

Villa are a team in form and have more to fight for here. On paper you would say the Fulham side is stronger but coming off a defeat and with little left to play for how high will their motivation be?

I think the best bet here is a Villa win which is available at the top price of 2.30 with bet365

SOUTHAMPTON V WEST HAM UNITED PREDICTIONS

Here are two sides who came up from the Championship last year but have performed above expectations this year and are clear of the relegation fight.

Southampton made a bold move in changing manager midway through the season during a decent run but it has worked out well for them and they are up to 11th in the Premiership under Mauricio Pochettino’s leadership. They have won 3 straight matches, beating Liverpool, Chelsea and Reading which gives them a 6 point gap over the relegation zone and they look like moving up the table rather than down on current form.

West Ham are 12th in the Premier League with 37 points from 31 matches and have been very impressive this season also. They have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 of their last 5 and look like they’ll end the year well clear of the relegation fight. Credit has to go to manager Sam Allardyce for the results on the field, many don’t like his style of play but it’s points that keep you in the Premier League and he has again delivered.

Southampton have almost a full squad to choose from with just Chaplow missing. West Ham meanwhile will be missing Carroll, Tomkins, Reid, McCartney and Noble.

SOUTHAMPTON - WEST HAM UNITED BETTING TIPS

Southampton are in a great run of form and full of confidence. Just one more win would almost ensure their survival and they’ll be aiming to pick it up here.

I’ll be backing Southampton to win at the top price of 1.91 with Coral

After earning just one league win between late November and early February, the Latics are now in their seemingly customary good end of season form. They have lost just one of their last seven games in all competitions, a run that includes five victories. They have also improved significantly defensively and bar the defeat to Liverpool, no more than one goal has been conceded in any game during that run. Roberto Martinez’s men have saved their best form for the cup this season too, as the impressive away win at Everton showed.

Millwall didn’t have the best preparation for this tie with the loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday in midweek. That was their first defeat in seven games though and the side’s form has improved dramatically since they suffered seven defeats in eight league games between January and March. They will fancy their chances against Wigan, who will be their first real test in the tournament, barring the fourth round victory against Aston Villa.

Millwall vs Wigan Best Bets

Arouna Kone anytime scorer at 2.45/1 with Betway

Wigan half-time and full-time at 2.8/1 with Paddy Power

Stoke vs Man United Preview and Betting Tips - Trouble for Stoke

Stoke entertain Manchester United on Sunday afternoon who will be looking to bounce back from their derby day defeat by coming away from The Britannia Stadium with all three points.

Since Stoke gained promotion in 2008 they have met The Red Devils in the league on nine occasions, losing eight and drawing the once. Given their poor head to head record and current dire form, I can’t see them getting anything from this encounter. They have won just one in 12, taking five points in that process and in that time they have failed to score in seven of those matches highlighting where their Achilles heel lies.

Before the city result United had won their last six matches all too nil. Given their previous form against The Potters, they have shown they are more than capable of dealing with their style of play and have also beaten Stoke to nil on five times occasions. All that points towards our first pick – United to win to Nil @ 13/8 with Skybet.

Robin Van Persie seems to have lost his scoring boots as of late as the Dutchman hasn’t scored a goal with his boots since 10th February. He’s had numerous opportunities to do so that’s not the problem; it’s just that they don’t seem to be finding their way into the onion bag. When boot shooters are in that kind of form what they need is too face a team they have managed to bag against regularly in the past, a team whose defence opens up for them like a blooming flower, ready to be pollenated by a busy bee and Stoke are that flower and RVP is that bee. In the six games he has played against Stoke RVP has managed to score on seven occasions although interestingly never first. RVP/United in the Score/Win double market is a favourable 7/4 @ William Hill.

Finally we’ll delve into the Man of the Match market where we have a player who has been awarded the MOTM in three of his last six matches on Sky Sports and that man is Michael Carrick. Opinion is divided amongst many reds, indeed football fans, as to whether Carrick is any good at the game we call association football. The fact is he wouldn’t have been at United for over seven years if he wasn’t and has been one of United’s best players this season. He’s been awarded MOTM against Sunderland (away), Liverpool (home) and Spurs (away,) a variety of teams who play in different styles. In a game where United will be afforded plenty of possession, his range of passing will be key in trying to unlock the Stoke defence and at 12/1 with BetVictor, that price can’t be ignored.

Stoke vs Man Utd Betting Tips

United to win to Nil: 13/8 @ Sky Bet

Van Persie/United in Score/Win Double market: 7/4 @ William Hill

Carrick MOTM: 12/1 @ Bet Victor
