What's a Normal Bet Size in Your Country? Let's Compare

Fine, I concede the point. Beer prices are relevant to betting budgets.

Back to the original question though - anyone surprised by the amounts different people are betting?

Why'd you think that?

Betting is just more normalized over there. Betting shops everywhere, ads on every sports jersey. Figured the average stakes would be higher.

Normalization doesn't equal higher stakes.

More people betting smaller amounts. Different model than US high-stakes culture.

Oliver makes an excellent point about the structural differences in betting culture, Americans seem drawn to large parlay bets with massive potential payouts whereas British bettors favour accumulators with more modest returns but higher probability, this reflects different cultural attitudes toward gambling and risk.

Still no paragraph breaks though.

lads genuine question how much do you think is too much to bet... like as a percentage of income not bankroll...

Depends on your financial situation entirely. If you have no debt, emergency fund, retirement sorted - maybe 5-10% of income. But most people shouldn't bet at all if they have credit card debt.

I agree with Eddie. I probably bet about 8% of my annual income, but I can afford to lose it all without affecting my lifestyle.

5% of disposable income reasonable maximum for entertainment betting.

0% if gambling becomes compulsive or affects essential expenses.

yeah im definitely betting way more than 5 percent... probably closer to 30 percent of what i make... which explains a lot...

Conor that's not sustainable mate.
