Yeah as a football coach I use "punter" to mean the guy who kicks the ball, never for betting.

In Wales if you call someone a punter you mean they bet.

"Saw some punter put 500 quid on Wales in the pub."

same in ireland... "the punters were all over dublin gaa today"... means lots of people betting on them...

American "punter" = German "Kicker"

British "punter" = German "Wetter" (bettor)

Clear distinction important.

"Lock" is used way too liberally. "This is a LOCK!" No it's not, it's a 55% edge at best.

We say "nailed on" in the UK.

Same thing.

"That's nailed on mate."

Usually means its definitely not nailed on.
