Everton will try to secure a Premier League safety in their final home match of the season, against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park. The situation is very complicate, the Toffees have 36 points, two more than 18th-placed Burnley, while Leeds United are sandwiched between them with 37 points. It is important to be mentioned that Norwich and Watford are already relegated. Everton will try to collect three points from this game and that will guarantee the status regardless of the remaining results. However, it won't be easy as they are in poor form. The Toffee lost 3:2 to Brentford during the weekend, although had a 2:1 lead at halftime. All three goals were scored by Everton players, only Seamus Coleman found the back of the wrong net. Nevertheless, Everton had a lead after first 45 minutes thanks to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, but Jarrad Branthwaite's early red card made the things not so simple for Lampard's men. The second half was a real catastrophe as Brentford scored two goals and won 3:2. To be worse, Salomon Rondon was sent off and he must serve a suspension together with Branthwaite. Nathan Patterson, Andros Townsend, Fabian Delph and Yerry Mina remain sidelined due to injuries, while Donny van de Beek and Ben Godfrey could take a part in the crucial match.
Crystal Palace are sitting in the middle of the table with 45 points. Palace have won 10, drawn 15 and lost 11 matches in the Premier League. They have no ambitions in the last two rounds - far away from European spots, but also out of the relegation battle. The actual form is very good, two wins and one draw on the last three league matches. The Eagles managed to beat Watford and Southampton, while shared the points with Aston Villa. The away form is also good, Palace travel to Goodison Park having suffered just two defeats from their last nine Premier League matches on road. The atmosphere in the squad is positive, while the players confidence is high. Manager Patrick Vieira is doing a good job and the fans like him. The Frenchman will try to maintain the positive series, but the lack of motivation could be a problem. In addition, Vieira has some injury worries. He will be without key player Michael Olise due to a knock, while Nathan Ferguson remain long-term absentee. James McArthur is rated as doubtful due to a calf injury, but most probably he will be rested as the French manager has no reason to take unnecessary risks in the finish of the season. Vieira should continue with the usual eleven, but Schlupp is pushing for a starting spot.
Everton vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
Everton lost to Brentford on Sunday and they missed a golden opportunity to secure the status. However, Leeds and Burnley have both failed to win at the weekend as well, so Everton would secured the status with one win from the remaining two matches. A trip to Arsenal on the final day is more difficult, so this is a perfect opportunity. Supported by their fans, I expect to collect three points against unmotivated guests and to finish the job.
