Manchester City are big favorites against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Etihad Stadium. The Citizens are leaders on the table with 62 points. They are in terrific form, winning 14 in a row in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola will be looking to continue the successful series. As You probably know, they didn't started the season according to the expectations, but managed to improved and now looks they will be the new champions. Pep Guardiola's men beat Southampton, Newcastle, Chelsea, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, West Browich, Sheffield United, Burnley, Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton, Arsenal and West Ham in the process. The last victory was deserved, but at the same time hard-fought. Interesting to be mentioned, the goals were scored by central defenders Ruben Dias and John Stones. Dias scored his first goal for Manchester City, becoming their 19th different scorer this season. They have had more different scorers than any other Premier League side in all competitions in the current season. City were also successful in the Carabao Cup, they will play in the final against Tottenham. They are going well in the FA Cup too, but Guardiola's most wanted trophy is the Champions League. The Citizens are in good position to reach the quarter-finals after they beat the German side Borussia M'Gladbach with 2:0 in the first-leg match. According to many pundits, Manchester City are on the way to become the first club to complete the quadruple. Guardiola has the majority of his players available for this match only Nathan Ake remain sidelined through injury. Some changes are possible due to the busy schedule. Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Aymeric Laporte did not play a single minute on Saturday, so they will likely to start here. Sergio Aguero, who started his first Premier League game since October, should be rested now.
Wolverhampton will try to continue their positive run when they visit the league leaders on Tuesday. The Wolves have 34 points and sit on the 12th place, The current form is very good, they have three victories and two draws on the last five matches in the Premier League. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who came under big pressure in January, could enjoy the moment now. Wolverhampton managed to beat Arsenal with 2:1, then played a goalless draw with Leicester City before obtaining two victories. The Wolves beat Southampton at St Mary and Leeds United at Moulinex. Both victories were narrow, but deserved - 2:1 against the Saints and 1:0 against the Whites. Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto scored the goals in Southampton, while an own-goal from one of Leeds players decided the other match. On Saturday Wolverhampton played an 1:1 draw with Newcastle. They were one goal down after 52 minutes, but Ruben Neves, who had never scored a headed goal for Wolves before, equalized that way in the 73rd minute. Pedro Neto, who assisted Neves, should also be mentioned - he has been directly involved in 10 Premier League goals this season after scoring five and assisting five more. Nuno named the same starting eleven in three consecutive league games for the first time since January 2020. Nevertheless, I think he needs fresh legs for this one. Fabio Silva and Rayan Ait-Nouri are the two players pushing hardest to be involved from the first minute after featuring off the bench on Saturday. Four players remain sidelined - Fernando Marcal, Willy Boly, Raul Jimenez and Daniel Podence. At the end I will mention this will be Nuno's 103rd Premier League game as Wolves manager, most of all previous coaches. Mick McCarthy is second on the list with 101 matches in charge in the competition.
Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Prediction:
Manchester City have not dropped a point since 15 December and have taken control of the title race. They have 12-point advantage, with 12 games remaining. I have no doubts they will score, so the question is about Wolverhampton - are they able to find the back of the net. I think so, for two reasons. First, they are in good form. Second, Man City they have conceded on two of the last three league matches.
