Saturday lunchtime - a perfect time for the "Manchester derby." I will start my preview with some history. The first meeting between the two teams occurred on 12 November 1881, when West Gorton - who would later become Manchester City - hosted Newton Heath - who would later become Manchester United. The game finished 3:0 in favour of the Heathens (United). At that time, the clubs were just two of many fledgling sides in the Manchester area, and the fixture had no special significance. The first league meeting between the teams came in the season 1894/95 season, when Manchester City lost 2:5 at Hyde Road. The first meeting between the clubs to take place at the highest level of English football occurred in December 1906, a 3:0 City win in a First Division match. As of 7 March 2021, there have been 185 competitive meetings between the teams. United have won 77 and City 55, while the remaining 53 games finished as draws. United won the last fixture with 2:0 at the Etihad.

Now about some derby records. The biggest victories have been to City who have won 6:1 on two occasions in the official league (both times in the away fixture at Old Trafford) on 23 January 1926 and 23 October 2011. But on 14 April 1941 during a war league derby match at Maine Rd, United beat City 7:1, which remains the biggest victory between the two sides overall. However, this result has been omitted as the official league was suspended due to the war situation. The largest attendance for a Manchester derby was 78,000 on 20 September 1947, a time when both clubs were playing at Maine Road, as Old Trafford was being repaired following damage sustained in the Second World War.

The players from both teams are heading into the derby with questionable confidence after the last results. United suffered a heavy 5:0 defeat to Liverpool two weeks ago. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was under enormous pressure, but somehow survived. He received a three-match ultimatum to save his job. Solskjaer's men were impressive in the first game and managed to beat Tottenham with 3:0 in London. In the second match they got a lucky 2:2 draw with Atalanta in the Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored both goals in Italy, will try to continue his scoring series. Nevertheless, Soskjaer's biggest problem is the defense. United have conceded 13 goals on the last five matches across all competitions. To be worse, two defenders are injured. Raphael Varane went off in the first half against Atalanta with a hamstring problem and he is definitely sidelined. Victor Lindelof, meanwhile, has missed the draw with Atalanta through injury, but he is rated as doubtful. Paul Pogba, who started in the Champions League, continues to serve a three-game ban for his sending off against Liverpool.

Manchester City are third on the table with 20 points, five less than the leaders Chelsea. At the same time they have three more than United and this match is very important. The Citizen are in mixed form, two wins, one draw and one defeat on the last four league fixtures. They beat Brighton and Burnley, shared the points with Liverpool at Anfield, but suffered a painful home defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend. Pep Guardiola's men dominated the pitch, but failed to score. The response came quickly as they won 4:1 against Club Brugge on Wednesday. Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus were the scorers on that match. I believe the players confidence is now higher. But there are some issues for Guardiola. Aymeric Laporte, who was sent off in the first half for denying a goal opportunity for the Eagles, will miss the derby through suspension. Ferran Torres, who impressed from the false number nine role, is out after sustaining a metatarsal fracture on international duty in October. Finally, Benjamin Mendy is in prison as he is accused of four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault

Manchester United vs Manchester City Prediction:

United recently ended a four-match winless run in the Premier League with a comfortable 3:0 victory against Tottenham. They also played a 2:2 draw with Atalanta in the Champions League. City, meanwhile, lost to Palace, but won 4:1 against Club Brugge in the Champions League during the midweek. Derbies are difficult for prediction, but the absences of key defenders in both teams (Varane and Laporte) means there could be goals.

Manchester United vs Manchester City Pick:
Over 2.5 goals @ 1,64 with Pinnacle

Manchester United

They tie with Atalanta in last game of UEFA Champions League thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo, who scores twice for Man Utd. But it consume lots of their energy in last game, causing them fatigued. What’s worse, Raphael Varane will be absent for a month due to injuries. It has an impact on their playing.

Manchester City

Instead, they defeat Club Brugge at 4-1 in last game of UEFA Champions League. Now they rank the first in Group A of Champions League. They have more time to make preparation for upcoming game than Man Utd.

Man Utd are not in good condition recently while Man City are in high morale. Besides, Man City are good at offensive but Man Utd play poorly on defensive. Thus Manchester City are going to win in upcoming game.

1x2 Pick: 2

Goals in Match: Over 3 goals

Man Utd - Man City
Cristiano Ronaldo to be booked @ 5,00

We can assume City will be better team in this match and CR7 takes matches like this very personally (v. Liverpool recently was the same situation, and Cristiano have been booked). There is also potentially important goal for Cristiano so he will put his shirt off again.

Good odds not to try.

Or direct red after Man Utd tear them 3 or 4 in the first half... :)

West Ham vs Liverpool Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

West Ham:
Fabianski; Johnson, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek; Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma; Antonio

Liverpool:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Mane

High-flying West Ham welcome Liverpool in the most interesting Sunday's fixture of the Premier League. Only two points separate these two sides, so this should be a very entertaining clash. The Hammers are in very good form in the last period. They managed to beat Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa in the Premier League, as well as Manchester City in Carabao Cup on penalties. Manager David Moyes is doing a fantastic job and the fans are pleased. He managed to transform a group of average players to a team that fight for a Champions League spot. The likes of Declan Rice, Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek are in the form of their lives. Last weekend they destroyed Aston Villa with 4:1, further showing how dangerous they are. West Ham visited Belgian side Genk during the midweek where played a 2:2 draw in Europe League. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is very high. But facing Liverpool is definitely a huge challenge. West Ham haven't beat the Reds in their last 10 mutual games and this run stretches back to 2016. Moyes has almost fully fit squad at his disposal, only three players are doubtful. Alex Kral recovers from Covid-19, while Andriy Yarmolenko and Nikola Vlasic both missed the draw against Genk with knocks and remain doubtful for this contest.

Liverpool are second with 22 points. They are the only unbeaten side in the Premier League. However, the Reds dropped two points against Brighton last weekend in a frustrating manner. Captain Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane scored to secure a 2:0 lead, but the guests didn't give up. Brighton's comeback started through Enock Mwepu's first Premier League goal, a stunning attempt from 25 yards which deceived Alisson. The Seagulls didn't stop there and they equalized when Trossard slotted home after an assist by former Liverpool player Adam Lallana. In an entertaining game, Mane and Salah both found the back of the net, but both attempts were ruled out for handball and offside respectively. Brighton also had a disallowed goal due to offside. However, the Reds quickly returned to winning ways by beating Atletico Madrid 2:0 in the Champions League. That was the fourth victory in the group and they secured the first place and booked their spot in the knock-out phase. However, Klopp has big injury worries ahead of this match. Roberto Firmino sustained a hamstring injury against Atletico, while Joe Gomez is rated as doubtful with a calf issue. The situation is particularly complicate in the midfield. Curtis Jones is out with an eye injury, while Naby Keita, James Milner and Harvey Elliott are also sidelined. Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara have just recovered and they are far from their best.

West Ham vs Liverpool Prediction:

West Ham have won four and lost one of their last five matches in the Premier League, while Liverpool have won three and drawn two. The Reds showed some weaknesses last weekend when dropped two-goal advantage against Brighton. It is clear this is one of the hardest matches to predict this weekend. That is why I will suggest goals. West Ham are yet to be shut out at home in the league this season.

West Ham vs Liverpool Pick:
Both teams to score - Yes @ 1.53 with Pinnacle
