Is it just me, or are 'Expert' Commentators getting worse?

I'm watching NFL coverage and I swear these "expert analysts" are getting dumber every year.

Cris Collinsworth just spent 5 minutes talking about how Team A is "definitely going to win this game" when they're laying 7 points. Buddy, they don't need to WIN, they need to cover 7. That's a HUGE difference.

These guys make millions to talk about football and they don't understand the most basic betting concepts. It's infuriating.

Anyone else notice commentators getting progressively worse at analysis?

The man played football at the highest level.

Champions League winner.

And somehow has the analysis depth of a potato.

"The team that scores more goals will probably win."

Most commentators talk to casual viewers, not bettors. Makes sense they ignore spreads.

Brighton they don't need to mention spreads specifically, but they could at least analyze whether the favorite can win by ENOUGH.

Instead it's "this team is playing great, they're going to win!" Cool, but they're -10 favorites against a terrible team. Of course they'll win.

Collinsworth actually used to be one of the better analysts but I've noticed he's gotten more casual/entertainment focused over time.

The entire sports media landscape prioritizes entertainment over analysis now.
