Is it just me, or are 'Expert' Commentators getting worse?

The issue of commentator quality does relate to broader sports integrity questions, if commentators lack basic analytical skills how can they be expected to spot suspicious patterns in play or provide context for unusual betting markets, proper commentary requires deep sport knowledge combined with statistical literacy which seems increasingly rare in modern broadcasting.

Most commentators wouldn't recognize match fixing if it happened right in front of them.
 
True but they could at least understand basic probability.

When weird stuff happens they just say "what a crazy game!" instead of "wait, that statistical anomaly is suspicious."

Commentators completely missed it. Authorities caught it through betting pattern analysis.

Commentators focus on entertainment, not anomaly detection.
