If You Could Never Tell Anyone About Your Wins, Would You Still Bet?

Good summary Tony.

Know your motivations. If you're betting primarily for social validation, that's a problem.

I think I probably still would bet. The appeal for me isn’t really about telling others, it’s more about the challenge and the excitement in the moment. That said, not being able to share a good win would definitely take a bit of the fun out of it 😅
Celebrating is part of the enjoyment too.

I get why you’d still bet for the rush and the celebration - that’s part of why most of us started. If you do keep betting, make the fun sustainable: keep stakes consistent, treat the excitement as the reward, and record the outcome and one takeaway after the match. A two-line post-match note - what went right, what you’d change - preserves the storytelling buzz without turning every win into a moral hazard.

If sharing is the issue, try a small private group or a locked thread with a few mates. You still get the pat on the back but avoid trolls and unwanted attention that come with public posts. And if you ever feel the celebrating is pushing you to increase stakes or chase losses, step back - the coach in me says protect the bankroll first, feelings second.

Nice sentiment about celebrating - do that, but keep the ledger honest and learn something every time.

Agree.

Self-awareness regarding motivation critical for healthy betting relationship.

Yeah this was interesting.

Made me think about why I tell the lads about wins.

Probably more ego than I want to admit.

this thread... made me realize im seeking validation from strangers online because i dont have real connections... depressing but true...

Good thread Princess. Important psychological question.

Social validation is real part of betting for many people. Better to acknowledge it than deny it.
