If Sports Became Completely Predictable Tomorrow (100% Accuracy), Would You Still Watch Them?

Princess, would you watch Mahomes make crazy throws if you knew exactly which throws would work?

If entire game choreographed and known?

Princess you're trying to convince yourself.

Be honest: known outcome kills the excitement.

princess at least you still care about one team... i dont care about any teams... just need uncertain outcomes to bet on... sports could be anything... football basketball coin flips... doesnt matter...

Conor that's the extreme version of what we're all experiencing.

Complete detachment from sport itself.

Conor represents endpoint of transformation.

Sports as purely abstract uncertain events for wagering.

All inherent interest in sport lost.

Okay here's the real test: would you watch a completely predictable game between two teams you have no connection to?

No chance.

definitely not... dont even watch teams i have connection to... just check scores...

I would not, this confirms that my engagement with sport is entirely dependent on uncertainty rather than appreciation of athletic excellence, when I was young I watched football because the sport itself was beautiful, now I watch because the outcome is unknown, the shift is complete.

So we've all admitted it.

Predictable sports = no interest.

We don't love sports we love gambling on uncertainty.

Pretty much Taffy.

With exception of maybe Princess still caring about Chiefs, and you still caring about Wales.

But even that's diluted.

Princess you're young enough that you still have some pure fandom left.

Most of us have lost ours entirely.

Here's a darker question: is predictable sports the same as watching a movie?

You know how it ends but still watch?
