Hold up - if you know almost nothing about betting, my first tip is DON'T START YET.
Seriously. Everyone here who's posting about strategies and models and edges? We all lost money for YEARS before we figured out what we were doing. Some of us are still losing.
Betting is not a way to make quick money. It's not a hobby you can just pick up and expect to win at. The bookmakers have decades of data, sophisticated algorithms, and teams of analysts. You're coming in with "almost nothing" and you're going to get absolutely destroyed.
Before you place a single bet, spend at least 3-6 months just LEARNING. Track bets on paper without real money. Read about bankroll management, expected value, closing line value, variance. Understand why 99% of bettors lose long-term.
If after all that research you still want to bet, start with tiny amounts you can afford to lose completely. Like $20-50 total bankroll. Not per bet - total. Treat it as education cost, not investment.
The market is designed to take money from people who don't know what they're doing. Don't be in a hurry to donate yours.
