Can gambling be an addiction? I'm not sure if my brother is addicted to it or not. He has always dabbled in gambling but for the past few months, his gambling got worse. I tried to convince him to stop this but he is not listening to me. He is losing everything. He lost his job because of gambling and I'm worried about his future.

I used to go with him once in a while and I enjoy it. But I'm not addicted to it. I think he needs counseling so I'm planning to take him to a wellness treatment centre in Toronto. I don't know if he will listen to me. Is there a way to stop gambling addiction?

I'm not against gambling but I'm against addiction. This addiction can ruin many lives. And I don't want that to happen.

Gambling can be an addiction. People are attracted towards it because they initially they gain money, but slowly become addicted to it and lose everything that they have. My suggestion is to take the addicted individual to a rehabilitation centre.

Yes, gambling is baaad. And so is alcohol, cigarets, sex, tv.... Sooo, you can abuse things or use them. You can use drugs to get conection to your inner sould or you can get high by abusing them. I am no more moral about gambling

I think it can get to that level but that's only if you let it spiral out of control. Let's focus on that!! Keep sensible, gamble responsibly and never gamble what you can't afford to lose. For me it's that simple.

Of course it can be an addiction. You always have to bet in a responsible way and with money that you can afford to lose, never putting your well-being at risk.

It can be a real addiction. The name of it is ludomania or something like that. It is when the person can`t stop with gambling and continues playing until has nothing. It is dangerous. Especially for people who have families to take care of.

The site I play slots have put together a responsible gambling guide through various pieces of great content.

Check it out here.

I like gambling and I play such casinos rather often but I'm not obsessed with this, for me it's just an other fun way of spending my free time {XD} And yeah, it's possible to win money with their help but usually such prizes are really small. It's really the truth that such games are designed for making players lose not win so hopes for getting big money in casinos are stupid. In my case I was lucky rather often but again I won only rather small amounts of money and I've never gotten a really big prize. I suppose that it's possible but in my opinion in general you'll lose much more than win and if money is your main goal in this case (not fun like in my own), than I think you shouldn't try them. But if you're like me and can control yourself, know your limits, than why not? :)

Basically every thing can be addictive, it depends on the personal character, so the answer is clear here.

What is more addictive than gambling in general is winning. People get used to money. When you make easy money you think it will last forever but making money is never easy. Every gambler should understand that if you won 1000 today, this does not mean that you made 1000 - you might lose it all in a minute. Gambling requires a certain level of self-awareness that cannot be achieved by every person.

All these games based on hope, so it is always an addiction

We gamble 'cause we need more excitement in our lives. Therefore, we always want to win. That's like a computer game - win in order to take it to another level

I think gambling can be an addiction if someone does not bet responsibly. You can never bet the money that one needs to live and not put the risk of the family unit.

"Can gambling be an addiction?" is that a serious question?!?

Yes, gambling is an addiction and people who spend a lot of time on it need treatment. But if your brother plays online games such as CS GO, LoL, StarCraft 2, Hearthstone, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm , he can place bets on different websites and win money. It is also possible to place counter strike bets and benefit from watching others play his favourite game.
