Roma have collect just one point from their opening two matches in Serie A. The fans were expected an easy victory over Salernitana at Olimpico, but the match finished with a 2:2 draw. If something could be rated as positive, that's the fact Andrea Belotti scored his first league goals for Roma. In the second round the Giallorossi suffered a painful 2:1 defeat to Verona. An early mistake from goalkeeper Rui Patricio determined the outcome of that game. Looking at these results, both the defense and the offense have problems. Houssem Aouar scored the only goal for Roma, but it wasn't enough to escape the defeat. To be worse, some players suffered injuries as Verona players were "not friendly." Paulo Dybala picked up a thigh problem, while Nicola Zalewski was concussed in the same match. Mourinho will also be without Renato Sanchez and Sardar Azmoun. Finally, Tammy Abraham and Marash Kumbulla remain long-term absentees.
Milan are in excellent form, having won each of their two opening fixtures. First they recorded a 2:0 win against Bologna, and then outplayed Torino with 4:1 at San Siro. Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic scored the goals in Bologna, while the duo was efficient in the second match too, only this time Giroud scored a brace. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is very high. Coach Stefano Pioli is doing an excellent job and the fans are satisfied. However, this will be a genuine test for Milan and their ambitions. A positive result from Olimpico will promote Milan as Scudetto chasers. Pioli has almost a full squad at his disposal, only Ismael Bennacer is injured. The Algerian will be out with a knee problem for at least two weeks.
Roma vs Milan Prediction:
I expect both teams to score at Olimpico. The last mutual results are suggesting goals - every time when Roma and Milan played in their last six matches, they both scored. And I believe the series will continue. Milan have scored six goals in their two opening fixtures and I don't see a way Roma defenders to stop Giroud. But Roma are also able to score, particularly now with Romelu Lukaku. As You probably know, the Belgian international arrived on Tuesday and should play a part in this derby. But Roma have other good strikers, don't forget Belotti finally scored in Serie A. Supported by their loyal fans, I think they are able to upset Milan defense.
