Roma vs Bologna Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Roma:
Pau Lopez; Santon, Mancini, Smalling, Spinazzola; Cristante, Veretout; Cengiz Under, Perotti, Kluivert; Dzeko

Bologna:
Skorupski; Tomiyasu, Danilo, Bani, Denswil; Dominguez, Schouten; Orsolini, Soriano, Barrow; Palacio

Roma host Bologna at Stadio Olimpico in the first match of the 23rd round. The hosts are in poor form as they suffered three defeats on the last five league matches. The bad series started with a 2:0 home defeat to Torino and continued with a narrow 2:1 loss to Juventus. Last weekend they suffered a 4:2 defeat at Sassuolo. In the meantime Roma won 3:1 against Genoa and shared the points with Lazio in Derby della Capitale. The fans are not satisfied with the last results. Even worse, Fonseca's men were eliminated from Coppa Italia, losing 3:1 to Juventus. One thing is positive, the opponents didn't take some big advantage from the situation and Roma are sharing the fourth place with Atalanta. However, the Giallorossi must improve their form in the next period, starting from this match. The players confidence isn't at highest level, so Fonseca need to make some changes. He is still missing the long-term casualty Davide Zappacosta, but there is more. Nicolo Zaniolo will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury and that's another blow. Amadou Diawara is also out of action through injury. The midfielder suffered a lesion to the meniscus and tried to take a couple of weeks to see if conservative treatment would be enough to resolve it. However, the progress have not been good and surgery is increasingly likely. If that is confirmed, Diawara will likely be out of action for the rest of the season, approximately three months. Finally, Lorenzo Pellegrini will serve an one-match suspension for his red card at the Mapei Stadium. Diego Perotti is expected to replace him in the midfield. Aleksandar Kolarov and Leonardo Spinazzola are battling for a starting spot at left-back. Carles Perez and Gonzalo Villar made their Serie A debuts against Sassuolo and might be involved here too. At the end I will mention that representatives of Friedkin Group are reportedly in ongoing talks with owner James Pallotta's lawyers, hoping to finalize a Roma takeover within the month.

Bologna are currently sharing the 10th place with Napoli. Both teams have 30 points and they are just two points away from the European spots. I believe Sinisa Mihajlovic's men will not give up and they will try to catch the sixth place. The actual form is good, Bologna have two wins on the last two matches in Serie A. Last weekend they obtained an important 2:1 victory against Brescia. The Rossoblu dominated the game, but went one-goal down after 36 minutes. However, Riccardo Orsolini equalized the result in the 43rd minute, while Mattia Bani secured the victory in the 89th minute. Mihajlovic was on the Bologna bench, as he was let out of hospital after nearly a week of anti-viral treatment. The Serbian coach is expected to lead his team again. But he has lot of injury and suspension worries. Andrea Poli is banned due to accumulated yellow cards, while Nicola Sansone and Federico Santander will be sidelined due to injury. The club have officially confirmed that the duo will be missing for the next several weeks. Sansone was subbed off during the first half of the match against Brescia with a problem to his left hamstring. The attacking midfielder is expected to be out for the next three to four weeks. Santander, meanwhile, has suffered an injury towards the end of the victory against the Rondinelle and he is expected to be out of action for at least three weeks. In addition, Gary Medel, Ladislav Krejci and Mitchell Dijks remain out injured. At the end I will mention that the club announced they "would be happy" if Rodrigo Palacio decide to continue playing next season. The 38-year-old striker, who has contract until June, has made 22 competitive appearances this season, scoring six goals with three assists.

Roma vs Bologna Prediction:

Roma will strongly attack from the first minute. The players came under fire after the last poor results. There is no space for any calculations, Roma must go for victory here. However, Bologna are all but naive team. They are in series of two victories and the players confidence is very high at the moment. Roma haven't kept a clean sheet on the last seven matches in Serie A and I think Bologna will score at Stadio Olimpico.

Roma vs Bologna Pick: Both teams to score - Yes @ 1.63 with Pinnacle

Bologna scored 18 of 22 goals
Roma scored 14 of 22 goals
Roma are a jersey and home favorite, but it will not be an easy task, as Bologna is in better shape. I will go for goals, both teams score big, score and easily score, expect to find at least one goal to confirm the match.

Verona vs Juventus Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Verona:
Silvestri; Rrahmani, Kumbulla, Dawidowicz; Faraoni, Amrabat, Veloso, Lazovic; Zaccagni, Pessina; Verre

Juventus:
Szczesny; Cuadrado, De Ligt, Bonucci, Sandro; Bentancur, Pjanic, Rabiot; Costa, Higuain, Ronaldo

Despite being newly-promoted from Serie B, Verona have 31 points after the first 22 rounds. Coach Ivan Juric is doing an excellent job and I am sure the fans are satisfied. The actual form is good, Verona are unbeaten on the last seven matches in Serie A, winning on three and drawing the remaining four. The Veronese managed to beat Spal, Genoa and Lecce, while shared the points with Torino, Bologna, Milan and Lazio. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is high. They visited in-form Lazio on Wednesday and earned a hard fought draw at Stadio Olimpico. Coach Juric admitted he had 'sleepless nights' before the trip to Lazio, but emerged from the Olimpico proud of Verona's goalless draw. With that point Verona climb above Napoli and Bologna to ninth spot, but are within a point of the group in sixth, including Milan and Cagliari. The Veronese are the only side other than Inter who have managed to stop Lazio scoring in Serie A this season. At the same time, Hellas also failed to score after 12 consecutive rounds, just one shy of the all-time club record. Goalkeeper Marco Silvestri was lucky as Luis Alberto hit the woodwork twice, but at the end kept the net untouched at Stadio Olimpico. Juric will have Sofyan Amrabat back from suspension whichch means Matteo Pessina can move into a more advanced role with Mattia Zaccagni and Valerio Verre, sending Fabio Borini to the bench. Lubomir Tupta, Alessandro Crescenzi and Andrea Danzi are still struggling with injuries. Some changes are possible as this match coming just 72 hours after their draw at Lazio.

Juventus are the leaders in Serie A, with three points more than second-placed Inter. The atmosphere in the squad is good as they have six victories on the last seven matches in Serie A. The Old Lady managed to beat Udinese with 3:1, Sampdoria in Genoa with 2:1, Cagliari with 4:0, Roma with 2:1, Parma with 2:1 and Fiorentina with 3:0 last weekend. The victory versus Fiorentina made Juventus the first club to win 1600 Serie A games. The Bianconerri are doing well in the Coppa Italia too. They secured the semi-finals with a 3:1 win over Roma. Cristiano Ronaldo was the key player scoring in each of the last nine Serie A games. He became the first Juventus player to achieve that since Davide Trezeguet (also scored in 9 matches) in 2005. The Portuguese superstar will try to break that record against Verona. Scoring at Bentegodi would also take him to within one of matching Gabriel Omar Batistuta's streak for Fiorentina in the mid-nineties. Coach Sarri has some injury worries as Danilo, Merih Demiral, Sami Khedira and Giorgio Chiellini are all sidelined. The captain, who injured his knee during the first game of the season and has been out since August with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments, has returned to the training this week. The club officially confirmed that Chiellini has returned to the sessions with the rest of his teammates. Of course, the Italy international need time to enter the form, though his availability is a boost for coach Sarri.

Verona vs Juventus Prediction
:

I expect Cristiano Ronaldo to score in this match. The 35-year-old superstar has netted 22 goals in 28 games this season and he is in excellent form at the moment. Ronaldo has found the back of the net in each of the last nine Serie A games. He could break Batistuta's record from the season 1994/95, when the Argentinian striker scored in 11 consecutive matches in Serie A. The Old Lady will play against Brescia at home and then Spal away, the sides that occupy the bottom two places in the table. Ronaldo will try to score against Verona, Brescia and Spal to make it a record breaking 12-game scoring run.

Inter vs Milan Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Inter:
Padelli; Godin, De Vrij, Skriniar; Candreva, Barella, Brozovic, Eriksen, Young; R. Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez

Milan:
G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Castillejo, Kessie, Bennacer, Calhanoglu; Ibrahimovic, Leao

The Milan derby, also known as "Derby della Madonnina", is one of the most awaited encounters in the European football. It is one of only few city derbies that are always played in the same stadium. The venue is named "San Siro" when Milan are the hosts, or "Giuseppe Meazza" when Inter are the hosts. It is called "Derby della Madonnina" in honour of one of the main sights in the city of Milan, the statue of the Virgin Mary on the top of the Duomo, which is often referred to as the "Madonnina" ("Little Madonna" in Italian).

The first derby match between Milan and Inter was held in the final of the Chiasso Cup of 1908, a football tournament played in Canton Ticino (Switzerland), on 18 October. The Rossoneri won 2:1. A total of 224 official matches are played between these two sides over the years. Inter have won 81 matches, Milan 76 and 67 games finished with draw. Counting only the Serie A matches, the Nerazzurri are better again. Since 1929, they have 65 wins, while Milan won 51 times. The points were shared on 55 occasions. Both teams have the same number of titles (18 each), but AC Milan has more European Cups/Champion's Leagues (7 to Inter's 3).

Now about the match. Inter are second with 51 points, three behind the champions Juventus. The situation isn't good, but I am sure Antonio Conte's men will not give up easily. The actual form isn't at desired level. The Nerazzurri have just one win on the last four matches in Serie A. After sharing the points with Atalanta, Lecce and Cagliari, Inter finally won last weekend. They managed to beat Udinese at Friuli with 2:0 thanks to Romelu Lukaku's brace. Conte had a busy January transfer window as he brought in Christian Eriksen, Ashley Young and Victor Moses. However, the hosts have lot of injury and suspension worries ahead of this match. Key striker Lautaro Martinez is suspended and that's a huge handicap. In addition, Alessandro Bastoni and second choice goalkeeper Tommaso Berni are also banned. First keeper Samir Handanovic, Borja Valero and Roberto Gagliardini are rated as doubtful due to injuries.

Milan are sharing the seventh place with Cagliari and Parma. All three teams have 32 points and they are not far away from UEFA Europe League spots. However, the Sporting director Ricky Massara insisted their ambition is to be competitive for a Champions League place this season. That's why the former coach Marco Giampaolo was sacked and Stefano Pioli was announced as new boss. An improvement is visible and the last results are excellent. The Rossoneri have three victories and just one draw on the last four matches in Serie A. They managed to beat Cagliari, Udinese and Brescia, but dropped two points against Verona last week. Indeed, Pioli had lot of issues for that match and played without many important players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The situation looks much better now as Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer return, Ismael Bennacer’s ban has expired and Rade Krunic recovered from a muscular problem. That means only Andrea Conti is unavailable due to tonsillitis.

Inter vs Milan Prediction
:

This is definitely one of the best Milan derbies in recent years. Inter are fighting for Scudetto, while Milan is still hoping of Champions League spot. It is not impossible with the current inconsistency of Roma and Atalanta. Even more as the Rossoneri look much better since the arrival of Ibrahimovic. I expect an open and efficient derby.
