Parma are in the middle of the table with nine points. They have three victories and four defeats in the first seven rounds and it is clear they are yet to find consistency this season. However, I think they will win this match. The home advantage is one reason for my pick. This match will be played at Stadio Ennio Tardini and Parma players will have big support from their fans. In addition, the Ducali won the last two home fixtures and that mini-streak should continue here. Parma managed to beat Sassuolo with 1:0 and Torino with 3:2. An own-goal from a Sassuolo player decided the first match, while Dejan Kulusevski, Andreas Cornelius and Roberto Inglese were goalscorers against Torino. Coach Roberto D’Aversa will once again ask the maximum from his players, looking for the third consecutive home victory. Most of the players are ready for the match, only Vincent Laurini is out injured. D’Aversa has some "sweet" issues in the attack as Roberto Inglese, Andreas Cornelius, Dejan Kulusevski, Mattia Sprocati and Gervinho are battling for three starting spots.
Genoa are second from the bottom with only five points. The situation looks critical and the next period could be crucial. However, the actual form is awful - Genoa have four defeats on the last five matches in Serie A, scoring just three goals in the process. They lost to Atalanta, Cagliari, Lazio and Milan, while shared the points with Bologna. The atmosphere in the squad is bad, while the players confidence is low. Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli is under heavy pressure. President Enrico Preziosi has been critical of Andreazzoli’s style of football and bad results. He had talks with Gennaro Gattuso, but the former Milan tactician turned down the Marassi role, as so the veteran coach Francesco Guidolin. So far Andreazzoli remains on the position, although that could change at any moment. He has some additional issues ahead of this match. Three players will miss the match through suspension - Cristian Romero, Davide Biraschi and forward Riccardo Saponara. That's not all as defender Domenico Criscito suffered a thigh injury on Genoa’s 2:1 defeat to Milan before the international break. The 32-year-old faces at least six weeks on the sidelines. Stefano Sturaro remains out injured.
Parma vs Genoa Prediction:
As I've already wrote, Parma should win this match. They are in solid home form, winning the last two matches at Tardini. In addition, Genoa are in bad form and very handicapped. Coach Andreazzoli has three suspended players (Cristian Romero, Davide Biraschi and Riccardo Saponara), while Domenico Criscito is out injured. Parma should take advantage from the situation.
