This is a perfect moment for the Derby d'Italia, as it will be a clash between the leaders Inter and second-placed Juventus. The name was first used back in 1967 by Italian sports journalist Gianni Brera. The matches between Inter and Juventus are perhaps the most intense in Italy between two teams from different cities. As of 24 July 2019, there were 172 derby matches between these two teams in Serie A. Juventus are more successful with 82 victories, Inter won 46 times, while the points were shared on 44 occasions. Nevertheless, the Old Lady don't have a great record in Milan against Inter, with just three wins since December 2011.
Inter started the new season in excellent way. They have six victories after thee first six rounds of Serie A with a superior goal difference - 13:2. Coach Antonio Conte is doing a fantastic job and the fans are satisfied. Last weekend Inter beat Sampdoria with 3:1 thanks to the goals scored by Stefano Sensi, Alexis Sanchez and Roberto Gagliardini. Inter also played against Barcelona in the Champions League during the midweek, but suffered a 2:1 defeat at Camp Nou. Conte said it was an undeserved defeat and criticised the referees. For this match Conte will be without suspended Alexis Sanchez who saw a red card in Genoa. Romelu Lukaku, who missed the clash with Barcelona due to a muscle strain, has recovered and should start.
Juventus have five victories and one draw after six rounds. The Old Lady beat Parma, Napoli, Verona, Brescia and Spal, but failed to score at Fiorentina, playing a goalless draw. So far they are doing well in the Champions League too. Juve won 3:0 against Bayer Leverkusen during the midweek thanks to goals scored by Gonzalo Higuain, Federico Bernardeschi and Cristiano Ronaldo. For this match coach Maurizio Sarri has lot of defensive issues, as Danilo, Mattia De Sciglio and Giorgio Chiellini are out injured. Juan Cuadrado will continue at right-back, with Matthijs de Ligt partnering Leonardo Bonucci in the heart of the defense. Douglas Costa, Marko Pjaca and Mattia Perin are also sidelined through injury.
Inter vs Juventus Prediction:
I expect both teams to score at Meazza. Inter have six victories, meaning they have scored on every match. The Nerazzurri even scored at Camp Nou. Juve, meanwhile, have two extra-ordinary strikers - Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo. They are definitely players able to make a difference in every match. I am sure some of them will find the back of the net.
