France vs Poland Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

France:
Lloris; Kounde, Varane, Upamecano, T. Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe; Giroud

Poland:
Szczesny; Cash, Glik, Kiwior, Bereszynski; Frankowski, Bielik, Krychowiak, Zielinski; Lewandowski, Milik

France will face Poland the Last-16 phase at the Al-Thumama Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The reigning champions topped Group D to secure their ticket for the knock-out stages, while the Eagles were second in Group C behind Argentina. Les Bleus started the campaign with a 4:1 win against Australia. In the second round they managed to beat 2:1 Denmark, while in the third round lost 1:0 to Tunisia. But it is important to be mentioned that several key players - Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann - were reserves. In addition, France leveled the scores in the last minute, but VAR intervened after the final whistle to rule out the goal for offside. Coach Didier Deschamps has some injury worries ahead of this match. Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema picked up a thigh injury on the first training in Qatar, while Theo Hernandez suffered injury against Australia. Deschamps should start with Mbappe, Griezmann, Dembele and Giroud. The latter needs one more goal to break Thierry Henry's record for the national team.

Poland had one win, one draw and one defeat in the three group matches. They beat Saudi Arabia, lost to Argentina and shared the points with Mexico playing a goalless draw. Robert Lewandowski finally scored his first World Cup goal in the victory against the Green Falcons. The Barcelona striker took advantage from a defensive error of Saudians defense. It wasn't anything spectacular, but the Polish captain was happy and said that he has now 'fulfilled his dream' on the biggest international stage. Coach Czeslaw Michniewicz did a great job, the Eagles have secured the knock-out stage of the World Cup for the first time since 1986. Nevertheless, I wasn't impressed by the performance against Argentina. Michniewicz has no injury or suspension worries and should name the strongest lineup with Milik and Lewandowski leading the line. However, the fact that six players could miss the potential quarter-final match if they are cautioned here is definitely a problem.

France vs Poland Prediction:

France are very successful and had progressed to the quarter-finals in each of their last five occasions. Les Blues are clear favorites in this match, the quality is on their side. France have players able to make a difference - Mbappe and Griezmann. Poland looked poor against Argentina and I think they couldn't escape the defeat.

France vs Poland Pick: France - 1.5 AH @ 1.99 with Pinnacle

Netherlands managed to qualify to the next round. Lets see now how Argentina is going to play. Personally I think that biancoseleste will qualify easily.

The odds favor France winning. It's noteworthy to note that both of them frequently provide low scores results. France had six of their eleven games this year in under goal, while Poland had seven. Therefore, we should concentrate on a total goal under 2.5, expecting France to win.

Pick: France

O/U Pick: Under 2.5

Japan vs Croatia Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Japan:
Gonda; Tomiyasu, Taniguchi, Yoshida; Ito; Morita, Tanaka, Nagatomo; Doan, Maeda, Kamada

Croatia:
Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Gvardiol, Sosa; Kovacic, Brozovic, Modric; Kramaric, Livaja, Perisic

Japan will try to continue their impressive series against the favorites when they face the 2018 runners up Croatia at the Al Janoub Stadium. Hajime Moriyasu's men received the nickname "Giants killer" after beating two former World champions. In the first round Japan won 2:1 against Germany. A stunning late comeback saw four-time winners Germany fall to a shock defeat in their opening World Cup game. Everything looked "normal" when Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan gave Germany the lead from the penalty spot in the first half. Nevertheless, substitute Ritsu Doan equalized in the 75th minute, while another substitute - Takuma Asano - netted the winning goal. In the second round they lost 1:0 to the easiest opponents Costa Rica. Japan needed a positive result against Spain in the third round and they were successful. The Blue Samurais completed another extraordinary World Cup comeback to reach the Last 16, winning 2:1 after Ritsu Doan and Kaoru Mitoma found the back of the net. The whole nation is in delirium and manager Moriyasu and his players are enjoying the moment. Defender Ko Itakura picked up his second yellow card and he is suspended, while Takefusa Kubo is doubtful due to muscular discomfort.

Croatia finished second in Group F and qualified for the knock-out rounds, but they were lucky in the decisive match against Belgium. As You probably know, Romelu Lukaku missed a clear opportunity in the finish and the match ended with a goalless draw. Previously Croatia beat Canada 4:1 and played another goalless draw with Morocco. Coach Zlatko Dalic put his focus on the defense. Indeed, the Chequered Ones have conceded just one goal so far and they are the best defensive side in Qatar. Croatia are unbeaten in the last nine games across all tournaments and the players confidence is high. Coach Zlatko Dalic has a fully-fit squad for this match, but two key players - Luka Modric and Dejan Lovren - must be careful as they will miss the potential quarter-final fixture if they are booked here. Some changes are possible, particularly in attack. Andrej Kramaric and Marko Livaja failed to impress in the goalless draw with Belgium, so Dalic could start with different option. He can choose some of the remaining four available strikers: Bruno Petkovic, Mislav Orsic, Nikola Vlasic or Mario Pasalic.

Japan vs Croatia Prediction:

I think Croatia will win the match. They are more experienced and this could be important in a match like this. Don't forget Croatia are World Cup 2018 runners up. Japan are yet to play in the World Cup quarter-finals and the players will have to deal with the fans expectations and the whole pressure. The victory against Germany was a huge achievement, but the win over Spain was controversial. According to many experts, Luis Enrique had his own calculations and he want to eliminate Germany and furthermore, to avoid Brazil and Argentina on the way to the final.

Japan vs Croatia Pick: Croatia to win @ 2.11 with Pinnacle

After coming from behind to shock Spain in their last group game, Japan will look to claim yet another major scalp at the 2022 World Cup finals when they face Croatia in the last 16. The Samurai Blue are high on spirits ahead of Monday’s clash, but they will have a big fish to fry against Zlatko Dalic’s troops. Midfielder Ritsu Doan, who scored as a substitute against La Roja, should be recalled to the starting XI, while defender Ko Itakura serves a one-game ban.

Meanwhile, the Croats booked their place in the knockout stages thanks to a goalless draw with Belgium. Luka Modric and Co. were producing fine displays in Group F, and seeing that Zlatko Dalic has a full squad to choose from, we are tempted to put our money on the European side. It has to be noted that the two teams played out a goalless draw at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals.

Morocco vs Spain Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Morocco:
Bono; Hakimi, Saiss, Aguerd, Mazraoui; Ounahi, Amrabat, Sahiri; Ziyech, En-Nesyri, Boufal

Spain:
Simon; Carvajal, Rodri, Laporte, Alba; Pedri, Busquets, Gavi; Torres, Morata, Olmo

Morocco face Spain at the Education City Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Walid Regragui's men finished first in Group F, ahead of two favorites Croatia and Belgium. Morocco impressed in the goalless draw with Croatia, but nobody expect two big victories against Belgium and Canada. The fans are in delirium, but some of them went too far as their win against Belgium triggered big riots in Brussels. Police used water cannon and tear gas to deal with unrest in the centre of Brussels following Morocco's win. Dozens of football fans smashed shop windows, threw fireworks and torched vehicles. Police said that around 11 people had been arrested. Brussels Mayor Philippe Close urged people to stay away from the city centre and said authorities were doing their utmost to keep order in the streets. Subway and tram traffic had to be interrupted on police orders. There were also disturbances in the city of Antwerp and Liege. Now about the team news. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who felt unwell just before the match with Belgium and had to withdraw seconds before the first whistle, should start here. He played the full 90 minutes against Canada and looked ok. Achraf Hakimi is rated as doubtful as he is nursing some ankle problems. The Paris Saint-Germain defender skipped the Saturday's training, but should be ready for this match.

Spain started the World Cup with a high 7:0 win over Costa Rica. It was a fight between cat and mouse. In the second round they shared the points with Germany. But the last round brought a controversial result as Spain lost 2:1 to Japan. La Roja dominated the first half, boasting more than 80% of the possession, and they had an 1:0 advantage thanks to the 11th-minute goal scored by Alvaro Morata. But Japan turned the game around in the early stages of the second half, though, leveling through Ritsu Doan before Ao Tanaka scored a second for Hajime Moriyasu's team. According to many experts, the defeat was exactly what Luis Enrique wanted. As a result, Germany were eliminated, while Spain will avoid Brazil and Argentina on the way to the final. Of course, the conspiracy theories are not always true. The 52-year-old coach rejected the idea that he and his players calculated in that match. About the team news, Cesar Azpilicueta is struggling with a calf injury. He came off after 45 minutes against Japan and he is rated as doubtful. The reasons for Raya's absence are not clear at the moment. Ferran Torres and Jordi Alba are expected to return to the starting eleven for this match.

Morocco vs Spain Predictions:

Morocco are in excellent form, they are unbeaten on the last eight games in all competitions. Even more, they have only conceded two goals in the process. Walid Regragui's men should not be underestimate, however, I think this is the end of their story. Spain are class above Morocco and I think they will win.

Morocco vs Spain Pick: Spain to win @ 1.60 with Pinnacle

I see Japan winning 3-1....they are on a roll

Yes, I agree, Japan were fantastic so far. But Croatian players are more experienced, this fact should not be underestimated.

Hopefully Argentina will win, I am rooting for Messi to win his first World Cup..
I don't think he will. I believe that Brazil is 2 levels up from any other team. I think that the two opponents in the final will speak the same language !!! ;)

My pick: Portugal Win (1.90) & Over 2.5 Total Goals (2.20)

Led by one of the greatest of all time in football, Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal is facing Switzerland at the Round of 16.

Portugal was shining in the first 2 games at the World Cup. They defeated Ghana and Uruguay with superb performance. But in the last game, South Korea unexpectedly defeated Portugal with a dramatic extra-time goal. Even though Portugal did qualify for the knock-out stage as the 1st place of the group, they proved that they weren’t immortal.

Switzerland also recorded 2 wins and 1 loss. Their loss seemed somewhat inevitable as their opponent was Brazil, whose performance was absolutely dominating. Switzerland’s overall strategy has been quite simple the whole time. They take the lead by any means, then they go 10-men defense (To me it looks like they park a bus in front of the goal post). This is their only playbook, but it has worked — they park the bus most effectively in the world.

It’s true that Portugal is the favorite in this game and I don’t deny it. Portugal’s attack line led by Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes is so powerful. Switzerland’s defense has been quite effective, but only when they’ve taken a lead. In the knock-out, where they have to aim for a win rather than a draw, they can’t help but play aggressively against Portugal.

Switzerland scored average 1.33 goals in group stage, and Portugal scored average 2 goals in group stage.

Prediction: Portugal 54% chance of winning, Swtizerland 24% and Draw 22%

Verdict: $80 on Portugal Win & Same amount on Over 2.5 Total Goals

My bets are simple as usual.
Dani Olmo - total shoots on goal over 0.5 @ 1.54 - 1.57
Rafael Leao - total shoots on goal over 0.5 @ 1.65

*( Rafael Leao is expected to be benched again, if it's then could be tried once he got subbed in.)
**(Dani Olmo TSoG 2 vs Germany 2 vs CostaR 1 vs Japan)

All in basket, but don't know why Leao bets is counted as voided.

I liked the Croatian vs. Canadian match better. And I liked the first goal of Canada in the first minutes of the match more :)
