Porto host Liverpool in the second-leg match of their Champions League quarter-final clash. The first game played at Anfield finished with 2:0 win for the English side. Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino scored the goals on that match. Porto will try to win with three goals, though it will be difficult. But the Portuguese champions were excellent so far in the Champions League, particularly at home. The Dragons have four victories on the four played home matches. Some of those victories were high. They managed to beat Galatasaray with 1:0, Lokomotiv Moscow with 4:1 and Schalke with 3:1 during the group phase. In the first knock-out stage Porto have eliminated Roma thanks to a 3:1 home win (after extra-time). Porto are the only remaining club in the Champions League to have won all of their home games in the competition this season. The actual domestic form is good, they are in series of five victories in Primeira. Sergio Conceicao's men managed to beat Feirense, Maritimo, Braga, Boavista and Portimonense. The atmosphere in the squad is good, while the players confidence is high. Conceicao has some good news ahead of this match. Two important players - Pepe and Hector Herrera - are back from suspension. However, this match comes too soon for Vincent Aboubakar who is close to a return after six months on the sidelines.
Liverpool have two-goal advantage from the first match and they are close to secure the second consecutive semi-finals in the Champions League. The home form is excellent, they extended their unbeaten home run across all European competitions to 21 games, winning 15 of them. Even more, the Reds have kept 12 clean sheets in this run, conceding just 15 goals. But away from home is a different story. Liverpool have lost all three group matches on road, suffering defeats from Napoli, Red Star Belgrade and Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds have scored just one goal on the mentioned three fixtures. It is true Liverpool won 3:1 against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, but it remains the fact they have problem playing away from home. Nevertheless, the overall form is good. The Merseysiders are in series of seven victories across all competitions. Last weekend they claimed an important 2:0 win over Chelsea. It was their first win over the Blues at Anfield in any competition since 2012. For this match Klopp has some injury issues. Jordan Henderson, who sustained an ankle injury in the second half of the Chelsea match, is rated as doubtful. Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are still recovering from their injuries. Full-back Andy Robertson is available for selection after sat out the first leg through suspension.
Porto vs Liverpool Prediction:
Porto are seeking a place in the semi-finals for the first time since the season 2003/04 when they lifted the trophy under Jose Mourinho. They will strongly attack from the very first minute to put the guests under pressure. But Klopp's players will have lot of free space for their fast counterattacks. Considering these facts, I expect an open and efficient match with goals on both sides.
