I was chatting with some of the UK guys on messenger last week, and I realized we live in different universes when it comes to Saturdays.

For me, a Saturday in the fall is a military operation.

  • 09:00 AM: Coffee, check injury reports, finalize the early slate card.
  • 12:00 PM: Kickoff. 4 screens going. Tracking lines for halftime middles.
  • 03:30 PM: The CBS game starts (SEC usually). The biggest slate of the day.
  • 07:30 PM: Primetime games. I'm usually exhausted but the slate is too good to miss.
  • 10:30 PM: The "PAC-12 After Dark" (or whatever we call it now). The degenerates' hour.
It's a 14-hour grind. I love it, but my wife calls it "The Void."

How does the Saturday routine look for you guys across the pond? Is it the same intensity?

Bloody hell Tony, that sounds like work not a weekend.

My Saturday is a bit more civilized butt.

12:00: Meet the boys for a pint and a breakfast roll.12:30: Put the accumulator on at the bookies (or on the phone if I'm lazy).13:30: Watch the early kickoff if it's decent.15:00: The Blackout.

See, over here we can't watch the 3pm games on telly. It's the law. To protect the attendance at the lower league grounds.

So between 3pm and 5pm, we are just checking scores on the phone, drinking, and shouting at Jeff Stelling on the TV (he just tells you the scores).

17:30: Late kickoff. Usually the big game.19:30: Curry.21:00: Match of the Day highlights.

Bed by 11.

14 hours of sport? I'd need a divorce lawyer.

Wait... you literally CAN'T watch the games?? 🤯

That is wild! So you just bet on them and stare at a scoreboard??

I'm with Tony on this one! My Saturdays are pure chaos lol. I usually have RedZone on the big TV (if it's NFL season) or just flipping channels for CFB.

Plus the snacks! We do nachos, wings, the whole thing.

Although I usually fall asleep during the Hawaii games... don't tell anyone 🤫

But seriously, how do you bet if you can't see the game? How do you know the "vibe"??

Princess, visual confirmation is secondary to data.

My Saturday procedure:

  1. 10:00 - 12:00: Final verification of team sheets and weather conditions across Scottish Premiership and English Leagues.
  2. 14:00: Deployment of capital. All wagers placed before kick-off.
  3. 15:00 - 16:45: Monitoring via radio or text commentary. No visuals required.
  4. 17:00: Results verification. Update spreadsheet.
I do not "watch" the game for entertainment.

The outcome is a binary data point.

If I watch, I get emotional. Emotion is the enemy of profit.

Negative on the 14-hour marathon. That leads to fatigue and decision errors.

lads you are all amateur hour...

my saturday starts on friday night when the australian soccer starts... then straight into the japanese j-league at like 6am...

then the early premier league game... then the 3pms (i stream them illegally on a dodgy box sorry taffy)...

then the late game... then the spanish league...

THEN the american stuff starts... college football... nba...

i usually pass out around 4am when some random ufc fight is on...

wake up sunday... repeat for nfl...

sleep is for people who don't have debt to clear...

tony is right though... pac-12 after dark is where the real demons live... nothing like betting on utah state at 2am to feel alive...
