Last week was very traumatic for Arsenal fans. On Sunday Liverpool beat Tottenham and became new Premier League champions, while three days later Arsenal suffered a painful home defeat to PSG in the Champions League. The French champions won 1:0 after Ousmane Dembele scored an early goal at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal did everything to escape the defeat, but once again goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was PSG's hero. The Italian international has brilliantly saved shots from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, while Arsenal saw Mikel Merino's header ruled out for offside. I think the atmosphere in the squad isn't good as previous, while the players confidence is lower. Arteta will probably rest some of his regulars, but the problem is the injury situation. Kai Havertz Jorginho, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Riccardo Calafiori remain out, while reserve goalkeeper Neto is ineligible to face his parent team.
Bournemouth are 10th on the table and they could go higher with a victory here. Their fans are dreaming about Europe and that's not impossible scenario. Newcastle won the League Cup, but could secure the Champions League if finish fifth or higher. The same could occur in the FA Cup, if Manchester City lift the trophy. The 8th place could also led to Europe and that's why this match is very important. The Cherries are in solid form, they are unbeaten in the last four rounds. Bournemouth narrowly beat Fulham, while shared the points with West Ham, Crystal Palace and Manchester United in the last round. The Cherries deserved more against Man United as they had an one-goal-advantage thanks to Antoine Semenyo's strike earlier. Nevertheless, they were not happy with referee's decision to sent-off Evanilson, who was initially booked for a challenge on Noussair Mazraoui. The Spanish coach will have Evanilson eligible for this match after an independent panel overturned his red-card decision. Enes Unal and Ryan Christie remain out injured, but Luis Sinisterra has recovered from a hamstring problem.
Arsenal vs Bournemouth Prediction:
The recent H2H record are clearly on the Gunners' side. Arsenal have won each of their previous eight home matches against the Cherries in all competitions. But this game comes in the worst possible moment, sandwiched between two Champions League fixtures with PSG. To be worse, Arsenal lost 1:0 at the Emirates and now have a "mission impossible" to win at Parces des Princes in Paris. In other words, the game with Bournemouth isn't important. Arteta will be happy if nobody suffer injury. The result is not important for Arsenal, so I expect a low scoring game. Even more, the last three Bournemouth's matches have produced just three goals and all finished with Under 2.5 goals. Arteta is without recognized striker at the moment, Gabriel Jesus and Haverts are injured. At the end I will mention that Bournemouth won 2:0 the reverse fixture played in October.
