Roma vs Juventus Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Roma:
Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino; Cristante, Paredes, Pellegrini; Dybala, Lukaku, El Shaarawy

Juventus:
Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Chiesa, Vlahovic

Roma will try to return to the winning ways when welcoming Juventus to Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. The Giallorossi are looking for a place in next season's Champions League, but it won't be easy as Atalanta, Lazio, Fiorentina and Napoli are also in combination. The current form isn't at desired level, Roma have just one win on the last three matches in Serie A. The only victory came against Udinese, while suffered a painful 3:1 home defeat to Bologna. Last weekend they shared the points with Napoli in Derby del Sole. Roma took the lead through Dybala in the 58th minute, but the Vesuvians scored twice to turned-out the result. However, Tammy Abraham equalized in the 89th minute with another late goal. Roma have scored more goals (20) than any other Serie A side during the last 15 minutes of play this season. De Rossi has Diego Llorente and Leandro Paredes back from suspension and their availability could be very important due to the busy schedule. Rasmus Kristensen and Juventus loanee Dean Huijsen return too. The duo wasn't registered to play in the Europa League knockout stages. Paulo Dybala, who played seven seasons for Juventus from 2015 to 2022, making 293 appearances and scoring 115 goals, could skip the match as he desperately need a rest.

Juventus are third with 65 points and it seems they will play in the Champions League next season. They have eight points more than sixth-placed Atalanta, but Mr Gassparini's side have a match in hand. That means the difference could be cut to five points, so Juventus players have no space for relaxation and the points from this derby are important for Alegri. But the current form isn't at desired level, the Old Lady have three draws on the last three matches in Serie A. They played goalless draws with Milan and Torino, as well as 2:2 with Cagliari. The fans are not satisfied with the current results and coach Max Alegri feels some pressure. According to some sources, Alegri will not continue with Juve the next season. What is positive, he has the majority of his players available for this match, only Alex Sandro is sidelined by a calf injury. That means Allegri is set to name a similar XI to that which started against Milan last Saturday. Chiesa and Weston McKennie are between the players that could provide fresh legs after Juve failed to score against Milan last week.

Roma vs Juventus Prediction:

I expect both teams to score at Olimpico. Roma lost 2:0 to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League first-leg tie and they are almost eliminated from the competition. That means coach de Rossi now must turn the focus to Serie A. Three points from this match are extremely important for the Giallorossi in the battle for the fifth place. Juventus have quality players and I think they could score in the Capital. Last season Juve lost 1:0, but in January 2022 won 4:3. I don't expect four goals again, but at least one should be scored.
