Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Liverpool to Molineux for the second time in just three weeks. As You probably know, the Reds have won 1:0 in the FA Cup and they will try to repeat the success, this time in the Premier League. Wolves are just above the relegation zone and the situation is very complicate. New manager Lopetegui has a solid start at Molineux, though the current form is mixed - one win, one draw and one defeat on the last three league matches. They recorded a narrow 1:0 victory over West Ham, suffered a high 3:0 defeat to Manchester City and shared the points with Aston Villa. The Spaniard will try to take advantage of Klopp's problems, but he has some issues too. First of all, the home form. Wolves are the division's worst scorers at home with just six goals. Second, Lopetegui remain without four players - Chiquinho, Pedro Neto, Boubacar Traore and Sasa Kalajdzic. What is important to be mentioned, they are all long-term injury victims. New arrival Pablo Sarabia made his debut off the bench at Etihad will be in contention for his full debut alongside Joao Gomes. Matheus Cunha could lead the line.
Liverpool sit ninth with 29 points, huge 10 less than fourth placed Manchester United. According to me, the season is lost. Jurgen Klopp is filling an enormous pressure, even his position is safe. The fans like him very much and he has an iconic status at Anfield. The German coach won all possible trophies in the past six years - UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Community Shield, FA Cup, League Cup, European Super Cup etc. Last season, the Reds came within two wins of an unprecedented quadruple as they lifted the FA and League Cups, only to see the Premier League title go to Manchester City and then lose the Champions League final against Real Madrid. But the current season is not good and Liverpool are only a shadow of the team that nearly made history. The injury situation is still difficult. Ibrahima Konate is the latest victim. The French centre-back picked up a hamstring injury against Brighton in the FA Cup and will be out until March. Virgil van Dijk, Arthur, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino remain sidelined, while Fabio Carvalho and Nat Phillips are rated as doubtful.
Wolverhampton vs Liverpool Prediction:
I think Wolverhampton won't lose here. They have improved under Lopetegui and the players confidence is higher. Liverpool are out of form, they have just one win on the last six matches across all competitions. To be worse, Klopp is without Konate and Van Dijk in the defense. And they are two latest absentees. The attack look toothless, Salah is just a shadow of the last seasons' player. Jota, Firmino and Luis Diaz remain sidelined, while Darwin Nunez and Gakpo are not Premier League "material".
