Napoli welcome Juventus to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in a derby match of Serie A. It is a battle between first and second on the table, a genuine derby clash. Napoli have 44 points, seven more than Juventus. The Vesuvians have an excellent season, they were unbeaten in 2022. Nevertheless, their series came to the end on the first match of the new year. Napoli suffered a narrow 1:0 loss to Inter at Meazza. It was only the second match in Serie A that Napoli failed to score this season. Indeed, they are the most efficient side in Serie A with 39 goals after 17 rounds. However, Spelletti's men quickly returned to winning ways by beating Sampdoria comfortably last weekend. Victor Osimhen scored the first goal in the 18th minute, while Macedonian international Eljif Elmas converted a penalty in the finish of the match for the final 2:0. He took the place of Zielinski in midfield for that match, but Spalletti now has a "sweet problems" after Elmas impressed in Genoa. The other dilemma for Spalletti is between Mathias Olivera and Mario Rui at left-back, as well as between Amir Rrahmani and Juan Jesus in the heatt of defence.
Juventus are in fantastic form at the moment. In fact, they are the hottest team in Top-5 Leagues. The Old Lady are in series of eight victories in Serie A. Furthermore, they kept the net untouched on all these games. Juve managed to beat Torino, Empoli, Lecce, Inter, Verona, Lazio, Cremonese and Udinese. The last two victories were narrow and secured with late goals. Danilo found the back of the net in the 86th minute against the Zebrettes, while Cremonese were beaten by an injury time free-kick goal from Milik. Coach Max Alegri is doing an excellent job, but has a long list of injured players. Dusan Vlahovic, Paul Pogba, Leonardo Bonucci and Juan Cuadrado are definitely sidelined, while Mattia De Sciglio and Bremer are rated as doubtful. The coach had to improvise on the last match, so natural full-backs Danilo and Alex Sandro were used as makeshift centre-backs against Udinese. With Bremer and Bonucci absent again, Alegri may decide to continue that way, particularly because they kept clean sheet. Federico Gatti, who left on the bench in the last game, could start here. The World Cup hero Angel Di Maria has returned and most probably go straight to the starting eleven.
Napoli vs Juventus Predictiion:
I think Napoli are closer to the victory. The home advantage is one of the reasons. The full stadium will be like 12th player for Napoli. But the main reason for my pick is connect with something else. According to me, Napoli have players able to make a difference in the derby - Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The first has scored 12 goals, while the Georgian international 11. It won't be easy against the best defense, but I think they are able to score.
