Wolverhampton will be looking to continue their unbeaten series to four matches when they welcome Liverpool to Molineux. The hosts are currently sixth on the table, having picked up 21 points from 14 matches. A victory here could see them entering the battle for the Champions League spots. New manager Bruno Lage, who replaced long-term Nuno Espirito Santo, is doing a very good job and the fans are satisfied. As I already wrote, the Wanderers are in solid form. They are unbeaten on the last three league matches, winning one and drawing the remaining two. What is more important, they haven't conceded a single goal on the mentioned three games. The Wolves beat West Ham 1:0 thanks to goal scored by Raul Jimenez before hour-mark. Next, they played a goalless draw with Norwich City and Burnley. Three clean sheets have to be respected, but at the same time the strikers were far from their best. Wolves have scored 12 goals on 14 matches in the Premier League, less than one per game. For this match Bruno Lage has several players unavailable. Willy Boly, Jonny, Hugo Bueno, Yerson Mosquera and Pedro Neto are all out injured, while Fernando Marcal is COVID-19 positive. Daniel Podence, who was also positive, could return from coronavirus in time to feature in this match. On the positive note, Ruben Neves is back from suspension.
Liverpool sit on the third place, behind Manchester City and leaders Chelsea. The Reds are in very good form, they won the last three matches in the Premier League. They have secured three high victories against Arsenal, Southampton and Everton. What is more important, Klopp's men have scored four goals on each of those three fixtures. Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Minamino were scorers against the Gunners, while Jota (twice), Thiago Alcantara and Virgil van Dijk found the back of the net against the Saints. On Wednesday Liverpool outplayed the city rivals Everton and won 4:1. Captain Jordan Henderson scored the opener after nine minutes before setting Mohamed Salah clear to beat Pickford 10 minutes later. When it looked like the match winner is decided, Everton managed to score for 2:1. Demarai Gray found the back of the net after Richarlison's fantastic pass. That was the result after the first 45 minutes. Everton fans were hoping the Toffees could turn out the result, but Seamus Coleman's big mistake allowed Salah to score his second goal in the 64th minute. Finally, Diogo Jota netted the fourth thanks to Andrew Robertson's pass with 11 minutes left. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is high. The injury situation is improving, though Curtis Jones, Roberto Firmino and Harvey Elliot remain sidelined. Naby Keita and Joe Gomez are both set to return to training from injuries next week, but this game will come too soon for them.
Wolverhampton vs Liverpool Prediction:
This is a match between the current best defense and best attack. Wolverhampton haven't conceded a single goal on the last three games, while Liverpool have scored 12 times in the same period. It is not easy to predict the outcome of this match, but I think there could be goals on both sides. It will be a miracle if the Wolves defenders prevent Liverpool from scoring. At the same time, the Reds defense isn't at highest level. They conceded six times on the last five league matches. I think the hosts could score too.
