Has Betting Changed Who Your Friends Are?

Conor mate same though.

My whole identity is rugby and betting on rugby.

What else do I even do?

Work as electrician. Bet on rugby. That's it.

This is uncomfortable but true.

If someone asked "what do you do for fun?" most of us would answer "bet on sports."

That's not a personality. That's a problem.

I coach but even that's now filtered through betting lens.

"What do you do for fun?"

"I analyze football games."

"Oh like a coach?"

"No, like a bettor."

That's not interesting to normal people.

This forum represents our entire social circle because no one else can tolerate our monomaniacal focus on betting, we have gathered here because we are all too narrowly focused for normal friendship, we are a support group except we support each other in continuing the very behavior that has isolated us, it is quite perverse when one considers it objectively, we have created echo chamber of betting-obsessed individuals who validate each other's narrowness.

Prof "we support each other in continuing the behavior that has isolated us."

F**k that's dark.

But true.

Prof that's brutally accurate.

This forum enables us while pretending to be community.

So what do we do?

Acknowledging we've lost friends and become one-dimensional.

Does that lead to change or just guilt?
