Schalke 04 is currently at a disappointing ninth position in the Bundesliga after a really poor run of form. That said; Schalke played a good game in Turkey against Galatasaray this midweek. Both Bastos and Huntelaar were on the pitch in Turkey, and should take part again. Schalke has no new injury worries, but the important defenders Papadopoulos and Uchida are still missing. The more offensive players Afellay and Marica are also sitting this one out.

Fortuna Dusseldorf hasn’t got any new injuries to report. Voronin (Striker) and Garbuschewski (Midfielder) are both still out. Fortuna Dusseldorf has managed to plug their defense lately, and that has yielded them two wins in their last three.

The reverse fixture this season ended 2-2. Schalke had the upper hand, and were 2-0 up before they let Dusseldorf back in the game after two Schahin goals for the home side.

Betting tips

Fortuna Dusseldorf has improved their defending, no doubt, but they’ve also been a bit lucky. I think they will need to get lucky again if they are to get anything out of this game!

Schalke has struggled, but they can stil turn things around and compete for European football next season. They’re not more than seven points off Leverkusen in 4th still. The Galatasaray game was a step in the right direction, and I think Schalke will be spurred on rather than feeling tired. Also; this game should suit Schalke well as Fortuna Dusseldorf will focus on defending and lucky breaks for Schahin, Reisinger and Kruse to convert.

I would expect Schalke to have over 60% possession, and with players like Huntelaar, Bastos and Farfan on the pitch that should yield goals. Even if Dusseldorf would get one on the break Schalke 04 has enough offensive fire power to answer. Home win shout!
