Bologna and Milan will clash on Wednesday night in the Coppa Italia final at Stadio Olimpico. What is interesting to be mentioned, these two teams played each against other on Friday. Milan won 3:1 at San Siro and they will try to replicate the victory, but Bologna will look for a revenge. It is hard to predict the winners, but I believe this will be an interesting final.

Bologna are looking for their third trophy of the competition. Last time they won the cup in 1974, when they beat Palermo on penalties. The fans are dreaming about new trophy and this is an excellent opportunity. They started the campaign with a 4:0 win against Monza, continued with a narrow 1:0 win against Atalanta in Bergamo, while in the semifinals beat Empoli with a 5:1 aggregate victory. However, the actual form isn't at desired level and that's the biggest problem for coach Vincenzo Italiano. The Rossoblu are winless on the last three matches, losing once and drawing the remained two. That includes the already mentioned defeat from Milan four days ago. Italiano has some injury issues as Sweden international defender Erik Holm and versatile Switzerland international attacker Dan Ndoye are both rated as doubtful. Two players - Martin Erlic and Pedrola - are definitely sidelined.

On their way to the final, Milan have eliminated Sassuolo, Roma and Inter. However, the season will hardly be evaluated as successful. The Rossoneri are out of the Champions League spots, even not mathematically. They have 60 points, four adrift of Juventus, with only two rounds to be played. Coach Sergio Conceicao, who was appointed in January, started solid. Milan managed to win the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia after coming from behind against both Juventus and Inter. Winning the national cup will be another trophy for the Portuguese coach, though nobody is impressed. Most probably Conceicao will leave the club at the end of the season. It is clear the atmosphere in the club isn't at desired level. To be worse, several important players are struggling with injury: Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana and Emerson Royal. In addition, Warren Bondo and Riccardo Sottil are rated as doubtful.

Bologna vs Milan Prediction:

I expect both teams to score. Bologna and Milan are known as teams that never give up. They are named as "Comeback Kings". Milan have won 19 points from losing positions this season, while Bologna have taken 18 points. Milan are favorites in the final, mainly due to the experience, but Bologna players and fans are hungrier for success. Anyway, I expect an interesting match with goals on both sides, like it was case in their last three matches. Milan won 3:1 on Friday, while Bologna won 2:1 in the reverse fixture played in February. Finally the last season's game in January 2024 finished with a 2:2 draw.
