Fiorentina vs Inter Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Fiorentina:

Inter:
Handanovic; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Dimarco; Martinez, Dzeko

Cup holders Inter meet Fiorentina in Wednesday's Coppa Italia final at Stadio Olimpico in Roma. Both teams are also preparing for a European finals. As You probably know, Inter will face Manchester City in the Champions League, while Fiorentina will play against West Ham in the Conference League. The Nerazzurri have lifted the cup trophy eight times, most recently the last year. On the other side, the six-time winners Viola will try to end a 22-year trophy drought. It is clear this will also be an interesting clash between two coaches - Simone Inzaghi and Vincenzo Italiano. It's the third mutual game this season and both teams have registered one win. Interesting, the victories came away from home, with Inter winning 4:3 in Florence, while Fiorentina won 1:0 at Meazza last month.

Fiorentina had a relatively easy way to the final as they managed to eliminate Sampdoria, Torino and Cremonese. The actual form is somehow inconsistent - two victories, one draw and two defeats on the last five matches across all competitions. One of the defeats could be ignored as the Viola progressed to the final of the Conference League with a 4:3 aggregate victory against Basel. During the weekend Fiorentina played an 1:1 draw with Torino in a match without significant importance. Coach Italiano decided to rest the majority of his key players and I agree it was a smart decision. That means Sofyan Amrabat, captain Cristiano Biraghi and top scorer Arthur Cabral will be fresh for this final. Giacomo Bonaventura is also available having be out for the weekend through suspension, but Salvatore Sirigu remain sidelined due to an Achilles injury.

Inzaghi decided to sacrifice the Sunday's game with Napoli and started with a much-changed team. It is clear his usual regulars need some rest after the busy schedule in the last period. The Nerazzuri are still active in three competitions. They secured the final in the Champions League and Coppa Italia, and they are battling for a Top-4 finish in Serie A. It is very important the key players to avoid the potential injuries in this period. As a result, their winning run came to its end in Naples, losing 2:1 the derby. Inzaghi should start with the best eleven here, including Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko up front. Long-term absentee Milan Skriniar and Henrikh Mkhitaryan remain out due to injuries, and the latter's absence in midfield should be covered by Marcelo Brozovic. Veteran goalkeeper and club captain Samir Handanovic is expected to start between the sticks - ahead of Andre Onana, who will instead play in the Champions League final. The Slovenian, who usually play in the cup, missed the semi-final second leg against Juventus through suspension.

Fiorentina vs Inter Prediction:

Fiorentina have no trophy in the past 22 years. Last time they lifted the cup in 2021, when Roberto Mancini's team beat Parma in the Coppa Italia final. Inter, meanwhile, won multiple trophies in that period, including the Champions League. They are more experienced as club and this fact should not be underestimated. More important, Inter have players able to make a difference in this match - Lautaro Martinez, Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko. Inzaghi has "sweet problems" about the mentioned trio, as one of them must be at the bench.
