Juventus host Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium in the last Sunday's fixture. The Old Lady beat Milan during the midweek and now have 30 points, seven less than leaders. Even more, the difference could be cut to only four points as Juve have a match in hand, against Napoli. The derby was originally scheduled for October 4, but Napoli did not travel to Turin for the fixture and match was registered with an automatic 3:0 victory for Juventus, while Napoli received one-point penalty. The Vesuvians took their case to the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) Sports Guarantee Board. Their decision was in favour of Napoli, so the match will have to be replayed. As You could see, the last period was very turbulent for the reigning champions. They also lost 3:0 from Fiorentina in the ultimate match in 2020. Coach Andrea Pirlo came under huge pressure, but two victories in 2021 improved the matters. The Bianconeri first beat Udinese with 4:1. Cristiano Ronaldo was double scorer on that match, while the remaining two goals were scored by Federico Chiesa and Paulo Dybala. On Wednesday Juve faced the hardest possible test - visit the leaders Milan at San Siro. The players were under big pressure as the defeat would produce 13 points gap, however they showed a class and registered a deserved 3:1 victory. This time it was Federico Chiesa who made the difference. He scored the first two goals, while Weston McKennie also put his name on the scoring sheet. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent at the moment, while the players confidence is high. But Pirlo has big defensive problems ahead of this match. He will be missing full-backs Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro after the pair tested positive just before the Milan game. Central defender Matthijs de Ligt also went into quarantine on Friday. Alvaro Morata is still sidelined with a muscle injury, so Paulo Dybala and Ronaldo should start in attack.
Sassuolo have 29 points, just one less than Juventus. The record of 8 victories, 5 draws and 3 defeats is the best record at this stage in their top-flight history. The Neroverdi are very close to the Champions League spots, however I am not sure about their ambitions. The actual form isn't at desired level, they have one win and one defeat in 2021. Sassuolo have suffered a heavy 5:1 defeat to Atalanta in the first match in the new year. It was a disappointing performance by Roberto De Zerbi's players. In addition, the coach admitted he punished Filip Djuricic by sending him to the stands against Atalanta: “He had a wrong attitude with me before the Sampdoria game. He trained well after what happened, but it was fair to leave him out today. Rules must be respected. He is the player I’ve coached the most during my career," said De Zerbi. On Wednesday Sassuolo returned to the winning way by beating Genoa with 2:1. The key name on that match was Jeremie Boga, who scored one and created another goal. The winger made the most of a stunning Manuel Locatelli cross-field pass and gave advantage to his team in the 52nd minute. Genoa equalized 12 minutes later, but Boga’s cross found the head of Giacomo Raspadori for all three points in the 83rd minute. I believe the atmosphere in the squad have improved, but coach De Zerbi has new problem. Key striker Domenico Berardi has suffered a thigh injury and will miss the match against Juventus. Berardi has contributed seven goals in 15 games so far this term and his absence is a big handicap. In addition, Filippo Romagna remain sidelined.
Juventus vs Sassuolo Prediction:
I expect an efficient match in Turin. The last results of both teams are the main reason for the pick. Juventus won 4:1 against Udinese and 3:1 against AC Milan. Sassuolo, meanwhile, lost 5:1 in Bergamo and won 2:1 against Genoa. In addition, the Old Lady have lot of problems in defense as Juan Cuadrado. Alex Sandro and Matthijs de Ligt are in quarantine. I believe there could be at least four goals, but I still decide to suggest a safer option. That means Your stake will return if exactly three goals come in this match.
