Just 1 day left until the start of Wimbledon and odds are already changing. Roger Federer is now the favorite according to Betfair users with @3.2 while Nadal is @3.85. Just a few days ago the odds were equal @3.65 for both. If some people like to back and lay to profit this was a good chance and I hope someone profited from this.
Rafael Nadal won the French open very hard this year. After losing 2 times on clay against DJokovic he was shattered, but Federer did the work for Nadal by beating Djokovic and then Nadal defeated Federer very hard in a match where Federer had many chances. I am sure this will give a great boost of confidence to Rafael Nadal and thats exactly what he needed. He won the most important slam for him this year and now he will play without a pressure. He also rested for almost 9 days before Wimbledon so he will be fresh. At @3.85 Nadal is very good bet as he won WImbledon the last 2 times he played( he missed 2009 because of injury).
Ofcourse odds might get even better in the tournament if Nadal struggles in the beginning of Wimbledon like always, but I will not wait for it to happen as it might not. I jump on @3.85 on Nadal to win Wimbledon right now.

Sharapova sees off spirited Robson challenge

It has been a tradition of British greatness down the ages to announce arrival by means of defeat. So it was on No.1 Court today as the 17-year-old left-handed wild card Laura Robson was beaten 7-6(4), 6-3 in her second round match by the sixth seed and 2004 champion Maria Sharapova.

Against such distinguished opposition, defeat was certainly no disgrace and Robson's bravura performance showed she is back on the right path following serious hip and stomach muscle injuries earlier this year that threatened to derail her ambitions of leading a revival in the fortunes of British women's tennis.

Robson came into Wimbledon ranked 254 but will move inside the top 200 because of her first round win against Angelique Kerber. And, to the raucous delight of the No.1 Court crowd, she played aggressive and confident tennis, never afraid to slug it out from the baseline with one of the game's biggest hitters.

In the end, she was betrayed only by lack of experience at this level and by a tendency to double-fault on some big points.

Two of those double-faults came in the opening game, which Robson still contrived to win after an eight-minute marathon of six deuces and five break points to Sharapova. With the crowd fervently behind her, Robson then went 2-0 up in another lengthy game that was decided by successive Sharapova double-faults.

Against an opponent who is the age at which Sharapova won Wimbledon in 2004, the Russian struggled to exert the expected domination, mainly because her serve was in some disarray. The effects of that shoulder operation have not been completely eradicated yet, and one first serve trundled into the net at 66 miles an hour.

She was 4-1 down before things began to look up and the shots started to fall inside the lines but Robson's excellence ensured that the set would need to be decided by a tiebreak. Here the know-how of Sharapova as a winner of three of the four Grand Slam titles manifested itself as she overcame a 2-4 points deficit to sweep the next five points and go a set up after a hard-fought 68 minutes.

At last we began to see some vintage Sharapova hitting and she moved swiftly into a 5-1 second set lead before the crowd's encouragement helped to boost a Robson fightback that closed the gap to 5-3 before the British teenager ran out of puff and fight. On this showing, much more will be heard of her.

Russia's Maria Sharapova continued her bid to win a second Wimbledon singles title with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Czech Klara Zakopalova, which earned her place in the fourth round and a match against the 20th seed from China, Shuai Peng.

In the first match of the day on Court No.2, Sharapova took control with her solid driving from the baseline in the cool midday conditions.

Zakopalova was in the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for only the third time in 32 attempts but she reached the last 16 at Wimbledon last year, proving she can play on grass.

However, Sharapova, who won her only Wimbledon title seven years ago aged 17, did not give Zakopalova time or space to settle and was soon ahead 4-1 with two breaks of serve.

Her ground strokes earned plenty of points and Zakopalova did not help her cause with a double fault which put her break point down in the fourth game. On the next point she missed a backhand and slipped over at the same time.

Zakopalova fell over again as Sharapova opened up a 5-2 lead and in the next game Sharapova prospered from some strong hitting on the backhand to wrap up the first set.

At the start of the second set, Sharapova had one anxious moment when she was a break point down, but she saved that situation with a service winner.

Two games later she lost her serve on a double fault, which put the Czech 2-1 up, but Sharapova, keeping her concentration, was back on terms at 3-3 and then reeled off the next three games for victory.

Sharapova finished in convincing style with a forehand crosscourt winner to reach match point followed by another forehand down the line. It left Sharapova in the fourth round for the seventh time.
 
Sharapova surges into Wimbledon fourth round

LONDON (AFP) – Former champion Maria Sharapova surged into the fourth round at Wimbledon with a 6-2, 6-3 win over unseeded Czech Klara Zakopalova on Saturday.

sadly he can't be in the finals... tsonga defeated him! Nadal and Djokovic will meet on the Finals... It is very exciting to watch and bet for!! Both are amazing!
 
Maria Sharapova may have finished a runner-up this year, but she tops one table at The Championships - as the competitor in the ladies' singles who made the most challenges to line calls using the Player Challenge System.

The summary of challenges to line calls made by players - a system only available on Wimbledon's makes fascinating reading. In the ladies' singles competition, the total number of made challenges was 179, with 59 being declared correct - which works out as a 33% success rate for the players.

Four players had an eagle-eyed 100% success rate: Akgul Amanmuradova, Kimiko Date-Krumm, Andrea Petkovic and Elena Vesnina. Dominika Cibulkova gets the wooden spoon for most challenges without getting a single call overturned - six.

Sharapova - despite getting two calls overturned to hold her second service game in the final - is on record as having made the most challenges, albeit in seven matches. She referred 18 line calls and got four overturned - a success rate of 22%. By contrast, Petra Kvitova made 11 challenges in her seven matches with a success rate of 64%.

Sad about Nadals fate :(

Novak Djokovic underlined his new status as the world's top tennis player by shattering Rafael Nadal's winning streak at Wimbledon to add his own name to the roll of honour at The Championships for the first time.
 
Nadal lost because he started very slow, I thought he will turn the match, but being 0-2 down against DJokovic was too much. I am sure he will rebounce, its not like he loses to anyone else. Its only Djoke.

But its not! Djokovic got the Champ!!!
 
I also didnt believe Djokovic can win this, he looked tired already against Tomic in qf. I think he is using something, it must be clear, even Nadal gets tired and he is naturally strong athlete. When tired he loses easily.
