The tracking solution works for systems that produce discrete model outputs you can compare against.

My process doesn't produce those cleanly. The judgment calls are distributed throughout, not concentrated in a single override moment.

Which means the tracking solution Eddie and Klaus describe: partially applicable to my approach.

Partially useful is better than not useful.

But the honest version of "fade the public as a systematic approach" requires admitting that it's more judgment-based than systematic at the execution level, and the friction of tracking isn't going to change how the judgment operates.

The judgment is the thing. I don't know how to track what I would have done if I'd thought differently.

Fade identifying the limits of the framework honestly.

For approaches with discrete model outputs: tracking is the solution.

For approaches where the judgment and the analysis are integrated throughout: the problem is harder.

I don't have a clean answer for the second type.

Neither does anyone else in this thread. Which might be the most useful thing we've established.
