What If Bookmakers Had To Publish Their Win Rate Against Individual Customers?

Yeah Princess. First time you'd be shocked.

After 100 logins you'd barely notice it.

Human adaptation to negative information.

i already know im down huge and it hasnt stopped me... seeing exact number might shock me initially but probably would get used to it... addiction doesnt care about numbers...

Conor's probably right.

Hardcore problem gamblers would rationalize or ignore it.

But might save casual bettors before they develop problems.

Correct assessment.

Transparency most effective for:
- New bettors (early intervention)
- Casual bettors (don't track, would be shocked)
- Borderline problem gamblers (might trigger help-seeking)

Less effective for:
- Established problem gamblers (denial strong)
- Winning bettors (reinforces behavior)

I'm probably in the casual bettor category.

Seeing "down £1,500 lifetime" might actually make me cut back.

Not quit but maybe fewer dumb bets.

Taffy that's the target demographic for this regulation.

People like you who would moderate behavior if confronted with data.

I suspect the effectiveness would vary enormously by customer segment, someone like Princess who bets recreationally might be shocked into moderation, someone like Conor with genuine addiction might rationalize or ignore the data, someone like myself who already tracks meticulously would be unaffected, the regulation would be most valuable for the middle group of casual bettors who are losing more than they realize but have not yet developed serious problems, this is a significant portion of the market and the group bookmakers most want to protect from self-awareness.

"Protect from self-awareness"

That's a perfect way to put it Prof.

Books need us ignorant.

Princess if you're actually ready to know, yes.

Download your betting history and add it up.

But prepare yourself. It's probably more than you think.

She's been gone 3 minutes.

Must be adding it up.

Princess that's the moment this regulation would create for millions of bettors.

How do you feel?

Really bad actually!

Like I knew I was down but $1,847 is so much money!

That's like... so many things I could've bought!

I might cry lol this sucks!
