Sevilla vs Barcelona Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Sevilla:
Bounou; Navas, Kounde, Carlos, Rekik; Jordan, Fernando, Rakitic; Suso, En-Nesyri, Munir

Barcelona:
Ter Stegen; Dest, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; De Jong, Busquets, Pedri; Griezmann, Messi, Dembele

Sevilla host Barcelona at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in what is considered as derby of the round. The match is going to be played without fans, so the Andaluzians will not have the fans support. This is a very important fact because Sevilla fans are always like a 12th player on the pitch. However, Sevilla are in excellent form at the moment, six victories on the last six matches in La Liga. They managed to beat Alaves, Cadiz, Eibar, Getafe, Huesca and Osasuna last weekend. Diego Carlos and Luuk de Jong secured a 2:0 win at Estadio El Sadar. Coach Julen Lopetegui is doing an excellent job and the fans are satisfied. The defense is key for the successful results, Sevilla have kept clean sheet on the last five league matches. They sit on the fourth place, just two points behind third-placed Barcelona, with games in hand. At the same time they are big seven points clear of fifth-placed Real Sociedad. However, there is no space for any relaxation as the next period is crucial. Sevilla will play back-to-back games with Barcelona as they will travel to Nou Camp in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final next week, holding a 2:0 advantage from the first leg. Lopetegui's men will try to surprise Borussia in Dortmund in the Champions League, having suffered a 3:2 home defeat in the first leg of their Last 16 clash. The busy schedule could be a big problem for Sevilla. Lopategui will again be without key striker Lucas Ocampos due to an ankle injury. His absence is a big handicap, he has scored seven times this season. Marcus Acuna is also sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Suso should be fit after a minor injury problem. Some players could be rested, like De Jong and Oliver Torres. Both are expected to be benched, while Ivan Rakitic and En-Nesyri should start.

As I wrote above, Barcelona are on the third place with two-point advantage over Sevilla. That means they can't afford to lose here, or will drop on the fourth position. But the actual form is mixed, they have one win, one draw and one defeat on the last three matches in all competitions. First they suffered a painful defeat to Paris St Germain in the Champions League. Or better to write humiliation. The night did start well for Blaugrana as they took the lead thanks to Lionel Messi's 27th-minute penalty. It was his 20th goal of the season for Barcelona in all competitions. But after that PSG dominated and won 4:1 thanks to Kylian Mbappe. The young Frencman was unstoppable and became only the third player to score a Champions League hat-trick against Barcelona. The next match with Cadiz in La Liga produced another disappointment. Barca had a lead after Messi converted the 32nd minute penalty after Pedri was felled. Barca also had 81% possession and 20 shots, but dropped two points in the finish of the match when Cadiz equalized, also from penalty. It was a stupid and completely unnecessarily foul from Clement Lenglet. On Wednesday Barcelona finally won. They hosted Elche at Nou Camp and won 3:0 thanes to brace by Messi. The 33-year-old is now the leading scorer in Primera Division with 18 goals, two more than his former teammate Luis Suarez. Barcelona are third in the table and still have realistic chances for the title as they came within five points of leaders Atletico Madrid. But of course, the Catalans need three points from this match. Koeman is still missing the injured Sergi Roberto, Ansu Fati and Philippe Coutinho. Ronald Araujo is still a doubt with an ankle problem, so Lenglet and Pique should continue at centre-back.

Sevilla vs Barcelona Prediction:

Sevilla are in series of six victories in La Liga. They managed to score in each of the last 10 matches across all competitions. Sevilla will go for the victory here, but the same counts for Barcelona. The Catalans are currently third, five points behind leaders Atletico Madrid. They are still a genuine title challengers, but need a victory here. Messi is in good form, he is La Liga top scorer with 18 goals. His confidence is still very high. This is the 13th consecutive campaign Messi has scored at least 20 goals for the club. Considering theses facts, I expect goals from both sides.

Sevilla vs Barcelona Pick:
Both teams to score - Yes @ 1.62 with William Hill

Real Madrid

They play so well this season that they have 64% winning percentage, ranking the third in the table of the League. There are only six points separating them from the first, Atletico Madrid. They are looking good for a shot at the title.

Real Sociedad

They are sitting the fifth place in the table of the League. They are good at both offensive and defensive, with 1.71 scoring goals and 0.83 conceding goal in average of this season so far. And they will concentrate on the League after being knocked out of UEFA Europa League.

Verdict:

Real Madrid take the upper hand over Real Sociedad in past head-to-head clashes with a record of 6W-1D-3L. Real Madrid go on a run at present with a five-match winning streak. And they are full of ambitions. So Real Madrid will possibly win.
