With nine Premier League matches already postponed in the last period because of Covid-19, it is not confirmed this match will be played on Sunday. Both Tottenham and Liverpool have confirmed some players had positive tests, but so far the situation is under control. The Spurs are on the seventh place in the Premier League. They have collect 25 points, four away from the Champions League spots. In addition, they have three matches in hand as their games with Burnley, Brighton and Leicester City were postponed - first due to heavy snowfall, the next two because of Coronavirus cases. It could be good they have had some additional rest time ahead of this match. In the last league fixture Tottenham managed to beat Norwich City with 3:0. That was the third Premier League victory for Antonio Conte as Spurs manager. As You probably know, the Italian coach replaced Nuno Espirito Santo last month. Key star Harry Kane is out of form and that's a huge problem. So far he has scored just once in the Premier League this season. Conte will try to maintain the winning series, though he has some injury issues. He could be without six players due to the virus. South Korea star Son is one of those understood to be affected, as well as Lucas Moura, Emerson Royal, Oliver Skipp, Bryan Gil and Dane Scarlett. They will all be tested before the match. Cristian Romero remains out injured, but Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso are in contention after the recovery.
Liverpool are second on the table, one place and one point behind the leaders Manchester City. The actual form is good, they have six wins in a row in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp's men managed to beat Arsenal, Southampton, Everton, Wolverhmpton, Aston Villa and Newcastle. The first three opponents were outplayed as the Reds have scored four goals against each of them, but it wasn't so easy on the last three matches. Liverpool were lucky to beat Wolves as substitute Divock Origi scored deep into the referee time, while three points in the match against Aston Villa were secured after Salah converted a penalty. On Thursday the Reds beat Newcastle with 3:1. It was a hard-fought win as the Magpies scored an early goal after Thiago's mistake. Without Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho because of suspected positive coronavirus tests, the defending wasn't at desired level and Liverpool were lucky to conceded just once. Nevertheless, the strikers were clinical and two goals in the space of four minutes put the Reds in charge. Diogo Jota's equalizer had an element of controversy about it, as it came when Isaac Hayden was down injured, but the referee didn't stop the game. Salah made it 2:1 in the 25th minute, while Alexander-Arnold set the final result in the second half. Klopp has lot of problems ahead of this match. Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones missed out the last match due to positive Covid-19 tests and must spend some time in isolation. The good news is there's no any further positive tests, however Divock Origi and Harvey Elliott remain sidelined through injuries.
Tottenham vs Liverpool Prediction:
Liverpool haven't won in London yet this season. They lost 3:2 to West Ham and shared the points with Brentford, playing a 3:3 draw. I don't expect Liverpool to win again, particularly without Van Dijk and Fabinho. Tottenham play at home and this fact should not be underestimated. Knowing what Conte is like, I am sure the players will give the maximum in this match. Fully motivated Spurs could upset Liverpool.
