iverpool vs Southampton Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Liverpool:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Mane

Southampton:
McCarthy; Livramento, Salisu, Bednarek, Walker-Peters; Redmond, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Elyounoussi; Adams, Armstrong

Liverpool will try to continue their winning series against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday. The Reds won the last two matches and the atmosphere in the squad is excellent. Last weekend they outplayed Arsenal with 4:0. Sadio Mane netted the opener when he headed in Trent Alexander-Arnold's free-kick in the first half. Diogo Jota took advantage of a Tavares mistake for 2:0 before Mohamed Salah slotted home a Mane cross for the third. Right-back Alexander-Arnold registered the second assist when he teed up substitute Minamino to make it 4:0. The Reds occupy third spot in the table - one point adrift of second-placed Manchester City and four behind leaders Chelsea. On Wednesday Jurgen Klopp's men obtained another victory, this time in the Champions League. They managed to beat Porto with 2:0, recording the fifth consecutive victory in the competition. Thiago Alcantara scored a long-range opener before Salah doubled his side's tally. Liverpool have now scored at least two goals in each of their last 16 games across all competitions. This is the best such run by an English team since Wolverhampton in 1939, when their series was stopped by the beginning of World War II. The Reds will try to continue their scoring show. The injury list isn't long as previously after James Milner, Andrew Robertson and Divock Origi took part as second-half substitutes against Porto. Diogo Jota and Naby Keita were also named on the bench, so Klopp now has "sweet issues" about the starting lineup. However, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino and Harvey Elliot remain sidelined.

Southampton are on the 13th place with 14 points. They are very close to the drop zone and manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is feeling some pressure, as well as the players. The actual form is good, three wins on the last five matches in the Premier League. Nevertheless, the Saints suffered a 2:1 defeat at Norwich City last weekend. The match started fine for them as Che Adams scored after just four minutes, but Teemu Pukki and Grant Hanley turned out the result and secured a victory for the Canaries. The trip to Anfield is the "last possible" place for a rehabilitation, as well as Liverpool. Southampton have lost seven of the last eight mutual games. But in January this year Southampton obtained a rare victory, winning 1:0 thanks to a second-minute goal scored by the ex-Liverpool striker Danny Ings. It was an emotional moment for Hasenhuttl as the Austrian coach fell to his knees and cried after the final whistle at St Mary. Hasenhuttl - who has been dubbed the 'Alpine Klopp' - later joked that the wind made him cry. It is clear this fixture is very important for both coaches. Hasenhuttl has some injury worries ahead of this match. Jack Stephens remain sidelined with a knee injury, while Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Djenepo are rated as doubtful through injury and personal problems respectively. Nathan Redmond, who missed the defeat to Norwich due to the birth of his child, should return.

Liverpool vs Southampton Prediction:

I expect both teams to score at Anfield. Liverpool have scored at least two goals in each of their last 16 games across all competitions. This is the best such run by an English team since Wolverhampton in 1939. So, the question is about Southampton, are they able to find the back of the net. I think so, they have scored on the last six games, including the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Chelsea:
Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek, Alonso; Mount, Hudson-Odoi; Lukaku

Manchester United:
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Bailly, Telles; Fred, McTominay; Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford; Ronaldo

Chelsea sit top of the Premier League after twelve rounds with 29 points. They have a record of nine wins, two draws and one defeat. Thomas Tuchel is doing a fantastic job and the fans are pleased. What is equally important, the owner Roman Abramovich is satisfied too. Last weekend the Blues beat Leicester City at King Power. Not only they won, but fully outplayed the opponents. Antonio Rudiger scored the opener with a glancing, looping header from a corner whipped in by ex-Leicester defender Ben Chilwell. N'Golo Kante doubled the lead by firing home from the edge of the box after being allowed to roam 30 yards virtually unchallenged. Christian Pulisic, who came as a substitute, netted the third goal from Hakim Ziyech's cross. The leaders controlled the game and also had three goals ruled out for offside. Chelsea also secured the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League after swept aside Juventus 4:0 in midweek to sit top of their Champions League group. Tuchel's men have produced an amazing performance at Stamford Bridge. Trevoh Chalobah, who registered his first European start for the Blues, scored the opener after 25 minutes before Reece James doubled the lead in the 55th. A third soon followed thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi, while the scoring was completed when Hakim Ziyech capitalised on a mistake from Juve midfielder Weston McKennie to cross for Timo Werner to tap home in added time. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is high. Tuchel has four injury worries ahead of the derby. N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell picked up knee injuries against Juve and will be assessed, while Kai Havertz is rated as doubtful after picking up a thigh injury against Leicester. Mateo Kovacic remains out with a thigh injury, but Romelu Lukaku has recover and could start here.

Manchester United are sharing the 8th place with Brighton as both teams have 17 points. They are in awful form and suffered four defeats in the last five matches in the Premier League. Some of the defeats were humiliated, like a 5:0 loss from arch-rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford or the last weekend's 4:1 loss to Watford. Some of the defeats were not that high, but showed the huge difference in the quality - Manchester City won 2:0, but United players were limited to some 32% possession and registered just one shot on target. The Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paid the prize and he was sacked on Sunday. The Norwegian coach replaced Jose Mourinho on a short-term basis in December 2018 before being given the job full-time four months later. His assistant Michael Carrick lead the team in a 2:0 win against Villarreal during the midweek, while Ralf Rangnick was announced as interim manager until the end of the season. The 63-year-old, who is seen as the ‘godfather’ of modern coaching in Germany, is leaving his job as head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow. Previously he managed Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim and Red Bull Leipzig. But due to work permit reasons, this match comes too soon for him and he won't be able to take the managerial role at Stamford Bridge. Carrick, who will try to register his second victory as interim manager, has four worries - Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba are both sidelined with thigh injuries, while Mason Greenwood is in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19. Harry Maguire is out suspended after being sent-off against Watford last weekend. On the positive note, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw have recovered.

Chelsea vs Manchester United Prediction:

Manchester United have three wins and four draws on the last seven mutual Premier League games with Chelsea. However, this time could be different. Chelsea are first with fantastic statistic. They have scored 30 goals, while conceded just four in the league. Overall, the Blues have conceded only 24 goals in the Tuchel's first 50 games in charge - a record for a manager in a British club. Manchester United, meanwhile, are in the big crisis, maybe the biggest in the club history. The poor form and the lost confidence will be the huge problem for Carrick. I think Chelsea will win the derby.
