Roma will welcome Atalanta to Stadio Olimpico on Monday evening. While La Dea are in fantastic run of seven league wins in a row, the Capital outfit last tasted a victory a month ago. Frequent coaching changes didn't bring any good for Roma. Claudio Ranieri is the latest name as he come out of retirement at the age of 73 to manage Roma until the end of the season. He replaced already sacked Ivan Juric. About Ranieri, he is Roma’s third coach this season and fourth in 2024. He was Roma coach twice before, having guided the Giallorossi from 2009-11 and in 2019. He began his job without a victory in the first two matches. In the first game he lost 1:0 to Napoli in the league, while then shared the points with Tottenham in Europe League. Mats Hummels was the key name in London after scoring a 91st-minute equalizer, while his poor challenge in the first half costed Roma a penalty. Ranieri now must secure the first victory, but has some issues. He is still without Mario Hermoso and Eldor Shomurodov, but Alexis Saelemaekers has recovered from an ankle injury. The veteran coach will also be without the suspended Niccolo Pisilli and that means the captain Lorenzo Pellegrini could return to the starting XI.

Atalanta are playing very good in the new season. They have 38 points, four less than the leaders Napoli. The actual form is good, they are in series of seven victories in Serie A. La Dea managed to beat Genoa, Venezia, Verona, Monza, Napoli, Udinese and Parma. The club from Bergamo are also successful in Europe. They are currently fifth with eleven points. In the last round they humiliated Swiss side Young Boys, winning 6:1 as guests. The atmosphere in the squad is very good, while the players confidence is high. Mr Gasperini is doing a fantastic job and the fans are pleased with the results. Like his counterpart, Gasperini also have injury and suspension worries. Interesting, he is the suspended one. About players, Gianluca Scamacca and Davide Zappacosta are out injured. On the positive note, Giorgio Scalvini has recovered and should start from the bench. The former Roma player Nicolo Zaniolo could play a part against his old employees. The club leading scorer Mateo Retegui is expect to lead the line. He is the first player in Atalanta history to reach 12 goals at this stage of a Serie A season. Together with Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman, the trio terrorize the opponents in Italy and Europe.

Roma have the home advantage, but I still believe Atalanta are closer to the victory. Ranieri will probably start with Pellegrini as young Pisilli is suspended. But the fans are still against the captain. Because of that Ranieri publicly asked the support, insisting that Lorenzo Pellegrini, Bryan Cristante and Gianluca Mancini tried all they could to avoid Daniele De Rossi's departure. However, one thing is clear, the atmosphere in the squad is far from desired. On contrary, Atalanta are in excellent form and the players confidence is very high. I think they could win here.
