Liverpool welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield in Saturday's Premier League contest. The Reds were embarrassed 4:1 by Napoli in midweek, while the Wanderers needed just the one goal to beat Southampton last weekend. This match is extremely important for Jurgen Klopp. He is under huge pressure, even his position is safe. He has an "iconic" status at Anfield after won all trophies - Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup and FA Community Shield. However, the poor start of the season complicate the matters. Pundits and journalists alike are all providing their own theories for Liverpool's crisis - Sadio Mane departure, the lack of motivation, the injury situation, poor form of the key player Mohamed Salah etc. However, the numbers are bad, just two victories in the first six league matches. Klopp has some additional issues as lot of players remain injured - Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, Ibrahima Konate, Jordan Henderson and Calvin Ramsay will all miss the match, while Fabio Carvalho and second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher are both rated as doubtful.
Wolverhampton are in solid form. The Wanderers are unbeaten on the last three matches in the Premier League and the players confidence is higher. Last weekend they beat Southampton 1:0. Daniel Podence's close-range finish earned Wolves their first league victory of the season. The Wanderers created the better chances prior to Podence's opener but it was a familiar story in front of goal - Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pedro Neto had problem to find the back of the net. Six points from as many games is not what the fans were expecting. It is clear what is the problem - Wolves have scored only three goals for 540 minutes of top-flight football so far this season. Together with West Ham United, they have the worst attack in the Premier League. That was the reason why Lage brought Sasa Kalajdzic. However, the Austrian international suffered a severe knee injury in the finish of the first half. He managed to complete just eight first-half touches. Lage will miss Kalajdzic for several months as he is now beginning his long road to recovery. Chiquinho is also sidelined, while Raul Jimenez is doubtful after pulled up with a groin problem in the warm-up before the match with Southampton last weekend. New signing Boubacar Traore is still waiting for documents.
Liveropool vs Wolverhampton Prediction:
Liverpool are in deep crisis, maybe the biggest one under Klopp. What is worse, the German coach has limited options in the midfield. Thiago has just recovered, while Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and captain Jordan Henderson remain sidelined. Wolverhampton are unbeaten on the last three matches and I think they will produce lot of problems to Liverpool. Wolves won't lose high.
