EPL League Predictions 09/26/20 (GMT+8)

Brighton vs Man United Betting Tips & Prediction

• Brighton easily won their away tie with Newcastle last week 0-3, then followed it up with another 0-2 away win against Championship side Preston in the League Cup midweek. They are on a 3-game winning run across all competitions, and have kept clean sheets in all of these matches so far. Yves Bissouma will miss this match due to a red card in their game, but the whole squad is pretty much on good form and have bounced back from their opening game loss in the EPL.

• Man United were upset 1-3 at Old Trafford by Crystal Palace last weekend, with Wilfried Zaha scoring a brace against his former team. They've had a much better result though in the League Cup as they dominated Luton to win 0-3 away during the midweek.

• The last 5 meetings between these two sides saw United winning the last 3, with Brighton securing the first two victories early on. Brighton are already on form and have the momentum coming on to this match, and they play good at home as well. United are not quite there yet, and are still shaking off some pre-season rust. They will be in for a challenge here, but I feel there's a chance that this match is where they begin to rediscover their form. All their regular starters are available for this match, so I'm hopeful of a good United performance here.

TIP: Man United -0.5

EPL League Predictions 09/27/20 (GMT+8)

Sheff Utd vs Leeds United Betting Tips & Prediction

• Sheffield United are off to a rough 2nd season. They lost their first 2 league matches against Wolves and Aston Villa. They also lost to Burnley in the EFL Cup. Of course it's still early, but it can be helped to wonder if the first season was all but a fluke.

• Leeds United couldn't asked for a better start to their season. Two matches so far, they've already scored 7 goals in total. They gave the defending champions a run for their money, and won against Fulham on a goalfest match. The trio of Bamford, Costa, and Klich already have 2 goals each and will look to carry their momentum when they visit Sheffield United.

• Sheffield United will host Leeds United. These two teams does not differ that much in paper, both do not have vast talents compared to other teams, but will play hard every single game. I think this match can go either way, and while Sheffield United are yet to score a goal this season, I think it's just a matter of time. On the other hand, Leeds United are on a scoring tear and I think they can continue this. With this, I am picking that this match will go Over 2.5 goals.

TIP: Over 2.5 Goals

Tottenham vs Newcastle Betting Tips & Prediction

• Tottenham visited Southampton on their last match and battered them 5-2. Spurs had a slow start in the 1st half but went ballistic in the 2nd half. It was a clinical performance from Son and Kane who scored all the 5 goals between them. Their next match against Newcastle will be too early for Bale but Reguilon has a chance for a debut. They had their EFL Cup match against Leyton Orient postponed because some of the players from Leyton Orient tested positive for coronavirus.

• Newcastle came on their last match full of confidence after winning their first match of the season. But got shocked with an early Penalty no thanks to a late challenge from Saint-Maximin inside the box. There were some moments, but Newcastle didn't really threaten throughout the match. Overall, it was just a brutal performance from the Magpies. They did have an impressive performance in the EFL Cup as they beat Morecambe 7-0.

• When these two team met on July 2020, it was played at St James Park. Before that, Jose Mourinho never won a Premier League match at St James Park in his whole career. That changed when Spurs beat Newcastle 3-1 that day. And with the way these two clubs performed last week, I am picking the hosts. Tottenham still has a Europa League to play in Macedonia before they meet Newcastle so fatigue can be an issue, but I think it won't matter.

TIP: Tottenham -1

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Brighton & Hove Albion:
Ryan; White, Dunk, Webster; Lamptey, Propper, Alzate, March; Trossard, Connolly, Maupay

Manchester United:
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Pogba, Van de Beek; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial

Brighton & Hove Albion have three points after the first two rounds. First they were beaten by Chelsea with 3:1, while in the second round won 3:0 against Newcastle at St James Park. Key striker Neal Maupay scored twice in the opening seven minutes, while Aaron Connolly completed the job in the 83 minute of the game. It is clear the results are mixed, just as the last season when Seagulls finished on the 15th position. Nevertheless, the fact they escaped the relegation was enough the season to be declared successful. Manager Graham Potter, who replaced Chris Hughton, did a solid job and I believe the fans are satisfied. Avoiding relegation will be his main task this season, too. But he need to improve the home form as Brighton have earn just one point from the last 15 available at Amex Stadium. For this match Potter has some worries - Yves Bissouma is suspended after saw red card last weekend, while five players are injured: Jose Izquierdo, Florin Andone and Christian Walton are definitely sidelined, while Aaron Connolly and Tariq Lamptey are both rated as doubtful. Dale Stephens is on exit-door and should leave the club to join Burnley.

Manchester United lost their Premier League opener last weekend. The Red Devils suffered an embarrassing 3:1 defeat to Crystal Palace. Even worse, the defeat came at home. It is clear United players have problem to win the "easy" matches at Old Trafford. The only positive moment is new signing Donny van de Beek scored in his debut for the club. But this is quite trivial for the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norvegian coach doesn't agree with referee's decision to award Crystal Palace a penalty, though he admit that wasn't the reason for the defeat. However, he already feels the pressure, although his job is not in question. Perhaps Ed Woodward feels bigger pressure at the moment as it became clear United need more new signings. Considering the fact that Summer transfer window is still open, I expect some reaction from the club officials. On Tuesday Manchester recorded a routine 3:0 victory against Luton in the Carabao Cup. Some of the key players were rested from that match as Brighton was in Solskjaer's focus. But many of the fans are pointing the fact reserve keeper Dean Henderson managed to keep a clean sheet against Luton, while first-choice De Gea conceded three goals against Palace. It is clear Solskjaer will have to make decision soon. Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones are sidelined, while Chris Smalling want to continue in Italy where spent the last year.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United Prediction:

I expect an efficient match at Amex Stadium. Brighton lost 3:1 to Chelsea in the first round, but since then have recorded three victories. EFL Cup victories over Portsmouth and Preston, as well as last weekend's 3:0 win at Newcastle have restored the players confidence. The Seagulls have scored 9 goals on the mentioned 3 games. Manchester United, meanwhile, have no space for calculations. The Red Devils will attack from the first minute. At least three goals should be scored here.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United Pick:

West Bromwich Albion vs Chelsea Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

West Bromwich Albion:

Johnstone; Furlong, Ajayi, Ivanovic, O'Shea, Townsend; Pereira, Sawyers, Livermore, Diangana; Robinson

Chelsea:
Caballero; James, Zouma, Silva, Chilwell; Kante, Kovacic; Mount, Havertz, Werner; Abraham

West Bromwich Albion started the new season with two high defeats. The Baggies lost 3:0 at home to Leicester City and lost 5:2 away to Everton. To be worse, WBA were knocked out of the EFL Cup on penalties by Brentford. The atmosphere in the squad is bad, while the players confidence is low. Their ambition is connect with avoiding relegation, but the first impressions show how difficult it will be. Manager Slaven Bilic has experience in English football as he coached West Ham from 2015 to 2017, but last week showed big frustration. In the finish of the first half Kieran Gibbs lost the nerves and was sent off for pushing Everton’s James Rodriguez in the face. Bilic protested at half-time and he also received a red card. The Football Association (FA) has fined Bilic 8,000 pounds after he admitted to a charge of improper conduct. The Croatian coach has some injury and suspension worries ahead of this game. Kieran Gibbs is banned, while Kamil Grosicki, Ahmed Hegazi and Kenneth Zohore are struggling with injuries and it is unlikely to play in this match. Hal Robson-Kanu, who scored twice against Brentford, is rated as doubtful. At the end I will mention that former Chelsea legend Branislav Ivanovic joined West Brom on a short-term deal. The Serbian international made his debut in their EFL Cup defeat to Brentford in midweek and should face his former club in this match. Conor Gallagher, who was impressive in his WBA debut on Tuesday, is ineligible to play against his parent club.

Chelsea were seen as strong contenders for the title this season. The reason was simple, owner Roman Abramovich had a busy transfer window this summer spending more than 250m Euros. Lot of established players signed for Chelsea: Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, Timo Werner from Red Bull Leipzig, Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain and Ben Chilwell from Leicester City. Last week was also productive - Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mandy joined the Blues. The Senegalese international has signed a 5-year-deal and the total amount of this transfer is around 22 million GBP. Chelsea begin the season with a 3:1 win over Brighton. Jorginho scored the first goal from a penalty, while defenders Reece James and Kurt Zouma netted the remaining two. But Kepa was in the focus after made a big mistake that allowed a goal. In the second round Chelsea suffered a 2:0 home defeat to Liverpool. Once again Kepa made a huge mistake and the club officials decided it's time to bring new goalkeeper. However, this match come too soon for Mendy, so Willy Caballero may receive a chance to impress. Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva made their debuts in the EFL Cup victory over Barnsley, while Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick on the same match. Hakim Ziyech remain unavailable, as well as long-term absentee Billy Gilmour. Christian Pulisic is rated as doubtful, while Andreas Christensen has completed a one-match ban for the red card against Liverpool last weekend. It doesn't mean he will start in this match.

West Bromwich Albion vs Chelsea Prediction:

I expect Chelsea to win this match. I believe they will cover the handicap too. The Blues were good enough so far, even lost to Liverpool. According to me, the defeat was inevitable after the expulsion of Christensen. Liverpool are too good for any 10-men side. West Bromwich has two important players unavailable - Kieran Gibbs is suspended, while Conor Gallagher is ineligible to face his parent club. That's not all, few more players are doubtful, including the double-scorer from the last match Hal Robson-Kanu. I don't see WBA getting something from this game.

Manchester City vs Leicester City Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Manchester City:
Ederson; Walker, Stones, Ake, Mendy; Fernandinho, Rodri; Foden, Mahrez, Sterling; De Bruyne

Leicester City:
Schmeichel; Justin, Evans, Soyuncu, Castagne; Mendy; Perez, Praet, Maddison, Barnes; Vardy

Manchester City started the Premier League campaign with a 3:1 win over Wolverhampton. The Citizens scored twice in the first half through Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden. Wolves scored in the second half, but were unable to make surprise. Gabriel Jesus' injury-time effort sealed victory for the hosts. I will mention that Foden played for the first time since being sent home from England duty in disgrace after the incident with prostitutes on Iceland. However, he is becoming an important figure in the team. Foden has been directly involved in 22 goals in 33 starts for the club, scoring 12 and assisting 10 more. He is even more important in this period as both strikers - Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus - are out injured. Aguero will be sidelined for at least 6 weeks, while Jesus is expected to be out one month. The absence of the mentioned duo is a big handicap for Guardiola, though he has other quality players that could find the back of the net. Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year Kevin de Bruyne is definitely one of them. The Belgian international has scored seven goals and set up six more in his last 10 league starts. Raheem Sterling should also be mentioned. He has had a hand in 13 goals in 14 league matches since the restart in June. So, City are handicapped, but I still expect to be dangerous. Four additional players (Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Nicolas Otamendi) remain sidelined through injury. Finally, Aymeric Laporte and Ilkay Gundogan are rated as doubtful as they are in isolation having being tested positive on Covid-19 previously.

Leicester City started the new season in great style. The Foxes beat West Bromwich with 3:0 in the opening match. Jamie Vardy was double scorer (both goals came from penalty kicks), while Timothy Castagne also put his name on the scoring list. In the second round they beat Burnley with 4:2. Leicester occupy the top position on the table, first time after the season 2015/16 when they won the title. The atmosphere in the squad is excellent, while the players confidence is high. Some of the fans start to dream again, some of the fans are betting on their team to become champions again. But Leicester have never started a top-flight season with three successive league wins. To be worse, Brendan Rodgers is winless in all 7 away fixtures as a manager against Manchester City in all competitions, losing 5 of them. But there is somebody more successful in the squad - Jamie Vardy. The striker has scored 5 goals in his past 8 appearances against Man City in the Premier League. In addition, Vardy is the only player that scored a hat-trick against a club coached by Pep Guardiola. It happened in December 2016 in the Foxes' 4:2 win against City. Rodgers has some injury worries ahead of this match. Key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi suffered an adductor injury which requires surgery. He will be out for at least three months. Ricardo Pereira remain a long-term absentee, while this match is likely to come too soon for Demarai Gray and Filip Benkovic. New signing Cengiz Under, who came from Roma, will be ready next week. On the positive note, Jonny Evans is back from suspension and should start in the heart of defense.

Manchester City vs Leicester City Prediction:

I think Leicester City won't lose with more than one goal. The Foxes play in excellent form and the players confidence is high. Manchester City, meanwhile, is very handicapped as both scorers (Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus) are out injured. Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Nicolas Otamendi are also injured, while Aymeric Laporte and Ilkay Gundogan are doubtful after tested positive on Coronavirus. Leicester should take advantage from Pep's issues.

Manchester City vs Leicester City Pick:

well deserved victory for West Ham [4-0]. What do you think about Everton? I see them ending up in the top 4 this season, if James Rodriguez can stay fit!

Well, they look very good. The question is about the consistency, are they able to play at high level all the time. The Merseyside derby in the next round will give us some answers. I think Everton will beat "already shaken" Liverpool.
