If you like playing slots and you’re interested in the numbers behind the reels then get involved in this thread. There’s a lot of information out there now relating to RTP rates and how they vary from one site to another. It would be good to hear other people’s experiences with this.
BTW if you didn’t know, RTP is Return to Player, which is the average amount a slot plays back in winnings. Normally slots RTP are about 96%. So you would get £96 back on £100 wagered.
There are now many game developers whose slots have more than one RTP rate. So you can find a game is at 96.5% at one casino and just 85% at another. These are the ones I know about who do this:
Play n Go
Nolimit City
Pragmatic Play
Thunderkick
Red Tiger
NetEnt
There are most likely more. If you know, add them here.
The classic example is Book of Dead by Play n Go. Optimal RTP is 96.21% - no complaints there. But it has FOUR other settings, dropping as low as 84.18% at the lowest level. I’ve seen this game set to 84.18% at some UK casinos so it’s definitely something to be aware of. Your chances of coming away net positive take a quite a hit with a 12% drop in RTP.
I’ve seen this talked about on some gambling blogs too – this one discusses RTP rates at individual slot sites in their reviews – allslotsites.com. And there are posts on other forums about operators chipping away at RTP rates in general.
I guess a lot has to do with regulation and the squeeze being put on gambling companies. They’ll do anything to try and claw back some of that lost revenue.
I’d be interested to know which casinos typically have the highest RTP rates for these kind of slots. Let us know here.
