Canada – Italy

There is nothing else expected here but a home win. The question is however the handicap Canada will cover in the match to outsiders. I think Canada will win this one by a huge margin despite it being their opening match. Canada came here with a lot of young talent, even more than we saw at the Olympic Games earlier this year. And they all want to show themselves fit so that they get a national team spot for the next event. Steven Stamkos should be the leader of the home team, the Mourice Richard Trophy winner for the best goal scorer during the regular season. There are also young players such as latest draft number one man John Tavares, the number three Matthew Duchene or the Trasher`s due Evander Kane and Rich Peverly. Ryan Smith(1976) and Ray Whitney(1972) should bring experience to the squad. Italy should have no chance in this match and their success here would be a loss by only a few goals. They are more interested in the games against the other outsiders as they hope to avoid the relegation battle this year.
Pick: Canada will win. Bookies give him an advantage of 4.5 points which they may as well achive. But, having watched USA's game last night, I am not sure that Canada will want to sweat too much tonight. Perhaps backing Ialy with +4.5 goals advantage is worth the risk.
