The best team in the Big Ten travels to play rival Michigan in Ann Arbor on Thursday night and attempts to improve on their 10-3 conference record. After beginning conference play with two losses, the Boilermakers have rallied to claim a share of the conference lead and now have their sights on improving their overall national rankings. Purdue sits at no.3, but after the loss from Auburn no.1 earlier in the week, the Boilermakers have a chance to jump into the top spot in the nation with wins this week against Michigan and Maryland.
The Michigan Wolverines picked up a much-needed road win at Penn State to stay in the race in the Big Ten with a 6-5 conference record. They get two more cracks at the league's best this weekend and will be home for both of their ranked matchups against Purdue and Ohio State. This is a rematch from last Saturday’s 76-82 loss at Purdue in a game which the Wolverines made interesting down the stretch. Purdue led by as many as 11 points late in the second half but Michigan was able to cut the lead down to 4 with two minutes left but that was as close as they would get. Michigan is still in search of their first win over a ranked opponent this season.
