Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Manchester United:
De Gea; Tuanzebe, Maguire, Bailly, Telles; Fred, McTominay; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani

Wolverhampton:
Patricio; Semedo, Coady, Saiss, Ait Nouri; Neves, Moutinho; Traore, Podence, Neto; Silva

Manchester United have 27 points, five less than first-placed Liverpool. However, United have a match in hand, so the difference could be cut to only two points. Ole Gunar Solskjaer is enjoying the moment and said his team play the best football. The actual form is really good, six victories and two draws on the last nine league matches. They managed to beat Everton, WBA, Southampton, West Ham, Sheffield United and Leeds, while shared the points with Manchester City and Leicester during the weekend. Solskjaer, who wasn't satisfied with the draw, has criticized the defending for both Leicester goals citing a lack of intensity from his players. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when he got on the end of Bruno Fernandes' pass to slide in his 50th goal in the Premier League, before Harvey Barnes hit a fine equalizer eight minutes later. The finish of the match was very interesting. Fernandes had given United the lead with just over 10 minutes left, but Axel Tuanzebe diverted a close-range effort from Jamie Vardy into his own net in the 85th minute. The Red Devils were disappoint with the fact they dropped two points, but it remains the fact this is a good period. In addition, Manchester secured League Cup semi-final after beat Everton 2:0 on Wednesday night. The match was decided in the finish when Edinson Cavani and Martial scored the goals. The atmosphere in the squad is very good, while the players confidence is high. The busy festive schedule could be a problem for Solskjaer. Most of the players are ready for this match, but the Norwegian coach must consider some rotations with the clash against Aston Villa coming on Friday. For example, Edinson Cavani could start in attack in place of Anthony Martial. The Uruguayan striker has five goal involvements as a substitute in the Premier League this season (scored 3 and assisted 2), two more than any other player. It is clear he deserve the chance to play from the first minute. But there are some injury issues. Victor Lindelof, who was substituted during the match against Leicester due to a back injury, will miss the match. Lindelof has been nursing the injury throughout the season, confirming earlier in the campaign that he has played through the pain barrier at times. Considering Wan-Bissaka is rated as doubtful, Tuanzebe will probably start as left back. Midfielder McTominay suffered a groin injury in the match against Leeds United last weekend and he is rated as doubtful. Defenders Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo remain long-term absentees.

Wolverhampton have 21 points, six less than their actual opponents. Overall, they have 6 victories and 6 defeats so far in the Premier League, plus three draws. The current form is mixed, they have one win, one draw and one defeat on the last three matches. First they beat Chelsea with 2:1 at Moulinex. Pedro Neto's 95th-minute strike gave them a dramatic victory and deserved three points. Previously Daniel Podence had equalized in the 66th minute, while Giroud put the Blues ahead in the first half. Interesting to be mentioned, all four of Podence's league goals for Wolves have come against teams from London - two against Crystal Palace, one against Arsenal and Chelsea. In the next round Wolves lost 2:1 to Burnley at Turf Moor. Nuno's men were two goals down after 51 minutes and that result was actual until the 89th minute, when Portugal youth international Silva won a penalty and then converted from the spot to set the final result. He became the club youngest scorer in the Premier League at 18 years and 155 days old. In their most recent fixtures, Wolves shared the points with Tottenham. It was a match in which seven of the starting 11 for Wolverhampton were Portuguese players (Patricio, Nelson Semedo, Neto, Joao Moutinho, Silva, Podence and Ruben Neves). The Spurs led for 85 minutes after Tanguy Ndombele scored an early goal after just 57 seconds, but Romain Saiss found the back of the net in the finish. It is clear the absence of Raul Jimenez is a huge handicap. As You probably know, Jimenez suffered a severe head injury against Arsenal at late November and will be out for a longer period. Nuno gave a chance to 18-year-old striker Silva, their club record £35.6m summer signing from Porto. Nuno has three additional injury isses. Marcal, who struggled in the finish of the game on Sunday evening, will skip the match, while Rayan Ait Nouri is likely to replace him. Jonny Otto remains sidelined, while Leander Dendoncker and Willy Boly are rated as doubtful.

Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Prediction:

I expect Manchester United to win this match. The Red Devils are in good form, they have six victories and two draws on the last nine league matches. Wolverhampton, meanwhile, suffered on the last two away fixtures, losing 4:0 to Liverpool and 2:1 to Burnley. In addition, Solskjaer has bigger roster, something very important in the busy festive period. For example, players like Pogba, Cavani, Lingard, Matic, van de Beek and Tuanzebe were not starters against Leicester.

Brighton vs Arsenal Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Brighton:
Sanchez; Webster, Dunk, Burn; Veltman, Bissouma, Propper, March; Maupay, Trossard; Welbeck

Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Leno; Bellerin, Holding, Mari, Tierney; Xhaka, Ceballos; Pepe, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang; Lacazette

Brighton will host Arsenal at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night. Usually Arsenal are big favorites in this fixture, but this time isn't that simple. The two teams are neighbors on the table - Seagulls are 16th, while the Gunners are 15th. Brighton have won just one of their last 13 Premier League matches. Nevertheless, their current form is not too bad, they are unbeaten on the last three league matches. However, all three games finished with draw. First they played goalless with Fulham at Craven Cottage. Adam Lallana was denied his first Brighton goal in the 49th minute, a VAR review disallowing his low finish for a handball by Danny Welbeck in the build up. Interesting, Brighton defender Lewis Dunk had five attempts at goal in this match, more than any other defender in a Premier League match this season. In the next match Brighton shared the points with bottom-placed Sheffield United. The match ended 1:1 after Welbeck, who came from the bench, scored a late leveler. It was his 8th Premier League goal as a substitute and first since scoring for Arsenal against West Ham in August 2018. The Seagulls should be satisfied as they escape the defeat, but at the same time they failed to win against the opponents that had to play 50 minutes with 10 men - Lundstram was dismissed following a VAR review for a dangerous tackle on Joel Veltman. During the weekend Brighton played 2:2 at West Ham. Once again the match have produced a dramatic finish, only this time Brighton dropped two points after substitute Tomas Soucek scored a late equalizer to salvage a point for the Hammers. The Seagulls took the lead towards the end of a first half through Neal Maupay, but West Ham equalized in the 60th minute. Just 10 minutes later Lewis Dunk restore the lead for Brighton when he smashed in his first goal of the season following a short corner. However, the final outcome was just another draw. Manager Graham Potter has some injury issues ahead of this match. Veteran Adam Lallana is likely to miss out with a groin injury, as well as Aaron Connolly. That's not all as right-back Tariq Lamptey struggles with a hamstring issue. Potter said that youngster's injury is not serious and he should be back soon. Nevertheless, the biggest problem for Potter is the fact his men have with only 48 hours for recovering.

As I wrote above, Arsenal sit on the 15th place with 17 points. It is clear this season could be rated as catastrophe for Arsenal. The Gunners are huge 10 points adrift of fourth place and the fans are disappointed. Simply, they are not used to see their team in the lower part of the table. Manager Mikel Arteta is under enormous pressure following a disappointing start to the season. According to the latest news, the former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel has being linked with the Arsenal job after he was sacked by Paris Saint-Germain on Christmas Eve. Tuchel is looking for a new job and according to reports by Bild, the 47-year-old has already decided he wants to take on a project in the Premier League. One of the possible destinations could be Arsenal. Tuchel has lot of trophies to his name. He won the German Cup with Borussia Dortmund, while at PSG, he won two league titles, the French Cup, the French League Cup and finished as runners-up in the Champions League last season, losing to Bayern Munich. The club officials were close to make a decision, particularly because Arsenal lost 2:1 at Goodison Park in the Premier League, and then suffered elimination from the Carabao Cup, losing 4:1 to Manchester City at the Emirats. And just when everything looked bad for Arteta, his men faced one of the title pretenders, Chelsea. Nobody believed Arsenal could win the London derby, though they celebrated a deserved 3:1 win. Goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka secured three points for Arsenal, and hopefully ended any talks about the relegation battle. Goalkeeper Leno should also be mentioned after saved a penalty that could complicate the finish of the game. For this match Arteta will be missing Thomas Partey, who is still recovering from a muscle injury. Defender Gabriel Magalhaes will miss the next few matches after contacted someone who tested positive for coronavirus. David Luiz and Willian are also unavailable due to illness, while key striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could start after being an unused substitute against the Blues.

Brighton vs Arsenal Preview:

I expect Chelsea to win this match. Brighton are without a league win at home this season. Arsenal, meanwhile, obtained a morale boosting victory against Chelsea during the weekend. In addition, the Gunners have had an extra day off to recover, something very important in this busy period.

Newcastle vs Liverpool Preview:

Possible starting lineups:

Newcastle:
Darlow; Manquillo, Fernandez, Schar, Clark, Lewis; Ritchie, Longstaff, Hayden, Joelinton; Wilson

Liverpool:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Fabinho, Robertson; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane

Newcastle United are currently 13th in the league table. They are not in best form in the last period, losing two of their last three games in the Premier League, and without a victory since December 12th. The Magpies also suffered a shameful elimination from the League Cup, having lost 1:0 from Championship Division outfit Brentford. But let's go back to the league form. Three rounds ago they suffered a high 5:2 defeat from newcomers Leeds United. The Magpies were in the match at 2:2 until the 77th minute thanks to goals scored by Jeff Hendrick and Ciaran Clark. But the last 13 minutes were awful as Leeds scored three goals and Newcastle lost. It was a first time since August 1958 Newcastle to conceded five goals in a top-flight league match against a newly promoted side. The defeat surely impacted the players confidence. In the next match they played an 1:1 draw with Fulham. The Cottagers took the lead just before the half-time and looked comfortable until the 62nd minute, when the referee's decisions - a penalty for Newcastle and a red card for Fulham defender Joachim Andersen - decided the outcome of the match. Fulham manager Scott Parker accused Callum Wilson of diving, and even I agree with him, that's irrelevant now. On Saturday Newcastle lost 2:0 to Manchester City. It seems manager Steve Bruce wasn't expected too much from the game at the Etihad. Callum Wilson, who's the key player in the team, didn't play against on that match. Wilson has been directly involved in 11 goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season (eight goals, three assists) and his absence was definitely a crucial moment. The Magpies had just 24% possession and only two shots on target. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow was the key figure in Newcastle squad having produced many excellent saves to deny more goals. He will start again as first-choice keeper Martin Dubravka remains long-term injury victim. Jamaal Lascelles and Allan Saint-Maximin are not available with long-term COVID-19 symptoms. Jonjo Shelvey and Ryan Fraser are both expected to miss out due to groin injuries, while Joelinton, who left the pitch early against Manchester City with a hip injury, is rated as doubtful. Jeff Hendrick and Paul Dummett are expected to return recovering from illness.

Liverpool are leaders on the table with 32 points, but one thing is clear - they are not dominant like the previous season. The Reds have failed to win 6 of their 15 Premier League matches this season, as many as they did in the entire 2019/20 season. There are many theories about that, but I think the last season's results are hard to be repeated. In addition, the injury situation is also a reason. The first-choice centre-back pairing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are long-term injury victims, while the third option Joel Matip suffered an adductor injury against West Bromwich on Sunday. Having on mind Dejan Lovren left the club during summer, Klopp has no senior central defender available at the moment. The German coach is forced to improvise with Fabinho on that position, plus youngsters Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips. Nevertheless, the actual results are not bad at all. The Reds sit first on the table, although the opponents are dangerously close. Liverpool's biggest problem is the away form. The Reds have played seven matches on road in the Premier League, winning just two of them. Until the last round that was covered with the perfect home record, but West Bromwich managed to stay unbeaten at Anfield. The Reds looked to be registering another three points when Sadio Mane chested down Joel Matip's long ball forward and fired past Sam Johnstone. It was Mane's 69th Premier League goal for Liverpool, moving him level with Luis Suarez and behind only three club legends and one actual player. Robbie Fowler lead the list with 128 goals, Steven Gerrard has 120, Michael Owen 118, while his team-mate Mohamed Salah 17 more than Sadio. Jurgen Klopp's men dominated the whole first half, but failed to score the second goal. Captain Jordan Henderson alone has completed 39 more passes (85) than the whole West Bromwich (46) during the first 45 minutes. Their dominance continued during the second half, but WBA players started to show teeth, while Klopp was nervous. WBA had several good opportunities before equalizing in the 83rd minute. Ajayi leapt high above the home defense to send a header in off the post to spark jubilant celebrations from the away team at Anfield. Klopp was heavily disappointed, though he admitted West Brom deserved the point. He must find a way to rebuild the confidence ahead of this match. Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip remain sidelined and that's a huge handicap, but not the only one. Henderson and Wijnaldum need to be rested, but the midfield options are limited with Naby Keita out after suffering another injury setback. In-form striker Diogo Jota and left-back Kostas Tsimikas are also sidelined. On the positive note, James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri have recovered and most probably will be between the reserves. Thiago is also in the final stage of recovering process and could be involved from the bench.

Newcastle vs Liverpool Prediction:

Liverpool have scored in each of the 15 matches they played in the Premier League. Newcastle, meanwhile, have no victory in the last three games in the competition, though they scored three times. The previous meetings between these two sides have mostly been high scoring, as five of their last seven mutual games have produced goals on both sides. Considering the fact all three Liverpool's centre-backs are out injured, I expect Newcastle also to find the back of the net.
