As we all know, Rooney was handed a 3 match ban for kicking out during the Euro 2012 qualifying match against Montenegro and will miss England’s first three group games at Euros. The debate is whether he should be selected at all since he'll be missing the start.

What I find hard to believe is that the FA and England managers are appealing the decision and in so doing, condoning the blatant bad sportsman-like behaviour Rooney exhibited against Miodrag Dzudovic on the world stage. In my book, he should be made accountable for his actions and his Managers and team mates should treat him for the fool he is for jeopardising their chances at Euros. Granted he must feel the goat anyway considering the revelations of his father's involvement in a betting scandal but it's no excuse for poor behaviour, particularly at this level.

Obviously, England need Rooney to have a chance at the Euros so without a doubt we'll see him after the duration of the ban. But is it the right message to send to players?
