League One Sheffield Wednesday face Championship Blackpool in this FA Cup 4th round replay. Blackpool managed to get a last minute penalty in the first tie between the two sides and Kevin Philips slotted from the spot to gain a replay.
Both sides will be really up for this one as the winners get a match against
Premier League Everton. Blackpool have been involved in a lot of high scoring games this season 65.5% of there league games having over 2.5 goals and 73.3% of their away games have had over 2.5 goals. There have been 24 goals in Blackpool’s last 7 league games.
Sheffield Wednesday matches have not been shy of goals either, with 62.1% of there league games having over 2.5 goals and 64.3% of there home league games having over 2.5 goals. I’m expecting another high scoring game here between the two and I’m going to back over 2.5 goals at 1.8 with Bluesquare.
Team News:
Sheffield Wednesday:
Sheffield Wednesday skipper Rob Jones will return to the side. Central defender Jones, sidelined for the last four games due to an ankle injury, will step in for Blackpool loanee Miguel Llera, who has already appeared in the competition for Brentford this season.
Mike Jones, a recent signing from Bury, is another who is ineligible and latest new recruit, John Bostock, is also cup-tied having made his only appearance for Tottenham this season in the FA Cup.
Midfielder Chris Lines, strikers Ryan Lowe and Clinton Morrison and defender Lewis Buxton are among those who will be hoping to return to the starting line-up.
Manager Gary Megson has no new injury or suspension problems, although defender Reda Johnson, currently on nine yellow cards, is walking a suspension tightrope.
Blackpool:
Kevin Phillips and Roman Bednar could be set to start in attack for Blackpool. Phillips' injury-time penalty gave the Seasiders the chance of a second go at their League One opponents as the sides drew 1-1 at Bloomfield Road 10 days ago.
The 39-year-old striker has since netted crucial goals from the bench in dramatic league wins over Coventry and Cardiff and is in line for a place in the starting XI as boss Ian Holloway prepares to rotate his squad with one eye on their growing promotion ambitions in the Championship.
On-loan West Brom forward Bednar, who enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Phillips during their time together at The Hawthorns, has won praise from Holloway for his contribution as a substitute over the past week and will hope for a first start since moving to Lancashire.
Keith Southern remains the Seasiders' only major injury absentee with a gashed ankle.
Last 6 Games (League):
Sheffield Wednesday: WDWDLW
Blackpool: WWWDWL
Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 2-3 Blackpool
My Pick: Over 2.5 goals at 1.8 (4/5)
Outside Bet: Correct score 2-3 at 32 (31/1)
