Mallorca welcome Barcelona in one of the most interesting clashes in La Liga. The Islanders currently occupy the 15th place on the table with 20 points. They are five points clear of the relegation zone and there is no space for any relaxation. The actual form could be evaluated as mixed, one win, one draw and one defeat on the last three matches in Primera Division. What is more interesting, they beat the strongest opponents, while heavily lost the most easier fixture. Mallorca won 2:1 in the match with Atletico Madrid at Wanda, lost 4:1 to Granada, while played a goalless draw with Celta Vigo. The Pirates are successful in home fixtures so far. They are unbeaten on home soil since the end of September, and shared the points on each of their last four home league games against Sevilla, Elche, Getafe and Celta. Coach Luis Garcia is doing a solid job and his main task is to avoid relegation. But he has huge coronavirus issues ahead of this match, with Jordi Mboula, Matthew Hoppe, Salva Sevilla, Aleksandar Sedlar, Jaume Costa, Takefusa Kubo, Angel Rodriguez and Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta all unavailable, while Antonio Raillo is out with an ankle problem. Amath Ndiaye, Joan Sastre and Franco Russo are rated as doubtful. Abdon Prats should again lead the line, but the problem is he has scored just one goal this season.
Barcelona are currently seventh in the table, two points behind fourth-placed Rayo Vallecano. At the same time they are massive 18 points behind the leaders Real Madrid and it is clear the title will remain out of their hands again. The Catalans have registered just seven victories in the opening 18 rounds of La Liga, while suffered elimination from the Champions League. The coaching change and arrival of Xavi brought some positive impact - Barca have now lost just one of their last eight league matches. The away form isn't at desired level despite the fact they are unbeaten in their last four league matches as guests. Three of those fixtures have finished level, including their last two visits to Osasuna and Sevilla. The Blaugrana are unbeaten against Mallorca in the league since May 2009 and will try to collect three points to potentially move into the top four. But Xavi has big issues ahead of the trip to Palma. Martin Braithwaite, Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati, Pedri and Sergi Roberto will all miss the match through injury, while Sergio Busquets is suspended. That's not all as Xavi has huge Coronavirus problems, with Dani Alves, Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet, Ousmane Dembele, Abde Ezzalzouli, Jordi Alba, Philippe Coutinho, Gavi, Sergino Dest and Alejandro Balde all out.
Mallorca vs Barcelona Prediction:
I expect an interesting match here. Barcelona are favorites according to the bookmakers, but I don't think so. Mallorca are solid at home and they are unbeaten at Palma since the end of September. They showed they know how to play against the big names, beating Atletico Madrid and sharing the points with Sevilla. Barcelona are not strong like the previous seasons and have lot of missing players for this match. I think Mallorca could remain unbeaten.
